Folsom Police Chief Cynthia Renaud announced she has accepted the position of Police Chief for the City of Santa Monica, effective late April 2018.

Chief Renaud has served as Folsom’s Police Chief since May 2011. During her tenure she has led a full-service police department of 105 personnel and an operating budget of $22 million.

Chief Renaud has developed strategies that reduced crime citywide, built neighborhood policing programs, and guided key initiatives that foster relations between the police department and community. She is Folsom’s first female Police Chief and serves as third vice president of the International Association of Chiefs of Police. Prior to her seven year tenure at the City of Folsom, she served the Long Beach Police Department for 20 years.

“There are really no words to express my admiration for the Folsom community, my respect for the men and women of the Folsom Police Department and my thanks to the entire city team I have had the pleasure of working with for the past seven years,” said Chief Renaud.

“No matter where the future leads me and my family, Folsom will always be in our hearts and we are better people for having been touched by the warmth and genuine character of all those whom I have served and who we have come to call friends."

Upon successful completion of the City of Santa Monica’s hiring process, Chief Renaud will begin her employment at the end of April. She will oversee the Santa Monica Police Department’s 460 personnel with an annual operating budget of $86.6 million.

“On behalf of the City of Folsom, I want to thank Chief Renaud for her capable and dedicated leadership and commitment to the Folsom community over the past seven years. Her expertise, professionalism and character have been of immeasurable value to our community and the organization,” said City Manager Evert Palmer. “The City of Folsom has a long history of attracting and developing some of the finest professionals in municipal government, and I’m incredibly proud of Chief Renaud’s success at the Folsom Police Department. I wish her all the best as she continues to shine as one of the nation’s leading public safety professionals. ”

I'm truly sorry to see Chief Renaud go.

She has been fabulous.  The moral has never been higher and the drama has never been lower.  I wish her well, but hope some day she finds her way back to Folsom!

Thanks for the info. She has done a great job.

A VETERAN Whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve - is someone who, at one point in their life, wrote a blank check made payable to "The United States of America" for an amount "up to and including their life". That is HONOR, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand it. -Author unknown-
