red hawk...the subject...

pretty much everyone I've spoken with says the food is expensive and not that great. I also hear the casino is bringing in $1 million dollars a day! They should at least make the food cheaper once they get back their investment.

my sister thinks that at this rate, the state should legalize gambling so cities can run their own casino. Maybe we could put a nice one in where palladio was originally destined. smile.gif
Knowing the past helps deciphering the future.

I loved it. Went the first full opening day and had the lunch buffet. Incredible deal for only $12.00 (no kids' pricing). It overlooks a hillside with lots of trees so the view is great too. They have a smoke free area with a bunch of slot machines (no table games there) and there are a few help-yourself free drink stations where you can get your own Diet Coke, coffee, etc......

Overall I'd give it 5 stars so far. And they have a stage behind one of the bars with live music every night. I'll be going up soon to check that out to see about getting some of my bands in there.

It's funny how they had an article in the paper about people getting lost using their GPS. The exit is off Hwy. 50 and clearly is marked "Red Hawk Parkway". You exit and go the only way possible and it's about 500 feet off the freeway. Hard to miss.......

I saw some postings here. And I am no representative of Red Hawk, but i can give some observations of a few things from my perspective.

Yeah they did not do a reorganized map for getting it on Google Earth or correct Caltrans maps to the public. (yes you can request map pins be used for Google Earth and Google Map, just as much as the Vice-President Cheney can have his house removed from Google Earth - true story)

Yes i think the food can be expensive, especially if you have 8 children, or a whole family reunion. Especially with no discount prices for kids/teens. My son had his birthday party there and no bulk rate pricing at the time.

For States Legalize Gambling, there is legal gambling in cities. Folsom with the cardroom and bowling alley (no Tribe in northern california has that). Sacramento has a couple places for cards. And lets face it folks, the 20-25% for the some tribes to give the State in lieu of taxes is not going to make a dent in the California State Budget. But it does help LOCAL and COUNTY budgets in municipal costs and employs many hundreds of people in El Dorado Hills and Folsom. [WHO BY THE WAY PAY TAXES].

And lets not forget the future philantrophy of the tribe to give up to 2% of Electronic Gaming Revenues to local communities. Which does not include thousands of money given from individual tribal members who dont legally have to give money to their own causes of their own choices. I know we give all the time.

OOh I almost forgot, when we went to leave the line to the elevators was 1/2 way across the casino floor so we tried to take the stairs but the doors to the stairs were locked...when we asked a guard why they were locked they said they don't have to abide by state laws because they are governed under a soveriegn nations (or something like that) so we opted to walk to the front doors which was a nightmare because they were offering free valet (which was nice), we had to walk quite a ways to get back to our cars.....
Not exactly fun for those of us in heels on a frosty night but better than waiting 45 minutes for an elevator.

Always use the Valet, its free, its convenient, and when they get the car to you its already warmed up. So gotta love the valet. Oh by the way, did i mention its FREE ?

Yes the parking is quite a large structure to be seen from the outside without knowing its looking like a 8 story structure. And can be confusing if you dont know the way. If i had to park I go straight to the 7th floor (cause Its where the Kids Quest is and my kids enjoy going there)

It sucks IMHO for 30 somethings...For 60+ with an oxygen tank, u may find it exciting..
I couldn't breathe on the smoking level.....The slots are not fun....The few Wheel of Fortune slots are taken by oxygen carrying elderly who never give up their spot for the impatient 30 somethings.....
Buffet line looked like a two hour wait.
Plus-Free fountain drinks.
Negative-get more hip slots with themes like the Munsters or some other trendy slots....
Daycare, yes they have one...Our kids and our relatives kids had a ball until it was time for check-out...They make u stand in line for a half hour and then charge u for the extra half hour...Not fun when it's $7.50 per hour...P.S.-don't order the kids' meal..Microwaved garbage that even the most unpicky kid wouldn't eat....Also, our kids say the rootbeer tasted flat....
Kids' bathrooms don't have a door?? WTF? Only one handicapped stall which any kid over two would use to avoid total embarrassment.....
When u walk out of the casino into the parking lot, BE careful...People are driving SO fast..It's justa matter of time before a kid gets hit when they run out of the casino into what they think is a non-car walk way.....

I see that people smoke, though it will still kill you slowly people do. But for those who value their health there is an entire level of Gaming where there is no smoking. Also on the same floor where there is fine dining and a buffet.. And on that very same floor is a place for children to go and teenagers to entertain themselves. - No Smoking. Smoke rises and so the smoking floor is left on the top. Now I would say a no smoking area for the High Rollers is a bit to much to ask for IMHO, but its very well ventilated and partitioned off. (Would you like me to tell you how many HVACs they have there? - I dont know but go ahead try to smell the same level of smoke in the high rollers area as you do in the casino slot floors.

for the kids, yah I would say the Rootbeer could have had some help. Especially with some icecream and a long A&W Crazy Straw !

Lastly, yes THAT SPEEDING has slowed down to a slow or halt in many areas. But If my kids are around they never leave my hand in any parking lot. If you do have kids, its one of the safest areas security wise. (cameras , guards, checkin/checkout of KidsQuest) Only thing I dont like about kids quest is the unlimited drink fountains they dont have in there. - Now if they put a all you can eat icecream and rootbeer float machine there.. all is forgiven.

[ I love the Kidsquest. I really like the casino. We will go there over Thunder Valley from now on. It just seems more convienent. No smoking room is nice, it is downstairs and away from everything. I like the self serve sodas.
