My  walking friend and I went to the El Dorado County fair yesterday and had a nice time ( pig races and all :) ) . On the way back I decided to take the exit to the Red Hawk Casino just to see what it looked like.  As a non gambler I was more interested in seeing what the place looked like outside and was somewhat disappointed as it looks like a large bunker.

The view was actually at the end of our excursion to the casino- I noticed as I was entering the parking garage that there seemed to be a view from the far side- so as you enter on the 6th floor or the garage, we drove up to the 7th level and then took the stairs to the 8th level at the far end and OH WHAT A VIEW !

Nearly 220 degrees overlooking valleys and hills and far off mountains, some houses and often very distant towers -

Looking to the east close beyond the borders of the facility, I saw a number of small ( say 2 ft x 3 ft) rectangle cement ( it looked like) sections going up the hill.  could not figure out what they were...   Any Ideas ?

We mused that we were likely a rarity  and thought that most likely very few people have ever gone to the far edge to take in the wonderful view.... maybe - maybe not ....

But for us - Another great  day in the adventure of exploration and sight...

Cheers

The view from the buffet is really nice.

Distracts from the mediocrity of the food itself.

I dare say if that buffet was in Folsom, it would be constantly swamped.  the food is decent and for a very good price.  when I have gone, I have seen tons of seniors there.  I know its more fun to dump on a casino, but when I have gone they have always had lots of vegetables without a ton of dressing and fresh fruit too.

I agree 100 percent...

I was recently at a casino/hotel in Reno, the Atlantis, and their food was awful, Even in the so called high end restaurants.

I think for many people who are $ conconscious, a buffet is great. i never go as I can never eat enough food to justify the price.

but I like the idea of checking out the view. :)

Maybe I need to try it again. I haven't been there in a year or so but at that time the food was pretty blah at best.

My wife and I go about 2-3 times a year. We have casino cards and are seniors so we get into the buffet for I think $10.50 each.

Can't beat that and we think the food is very good. Deserts too even though I am not supposed to have it. haha
