I'm thinking that it might be nice to take the kids for their first fishing trip down the street. What kind of fish are in there? I saw one dude that looked like he caught some decent-size fish.

I have buddies who fish little ponds all over the area. I think bass and blue gill are most common.

Bass definately. I wouldn't eat anything out of that water tho wink.gif With all the Algae Blooms and Stagnant Water....

There used to be Beavers in that pond too - those were always fun to watch, but then they started building a big house, and someone decided they were a nuisance and they dissappeared. sad.gif

Right behind Folsom High is a cool pond. Little bluegills that aren't very big but they feel like you have a 2lb trout on the line. Great for kids!!!! We use night crawlers and a bobber. Piece of cake!!

Yeah, I guess I should have clarified. The Willow Springs Lake (yeah, right!), Reservoir, Pond (it is bigger than a pond... to me), whatever it's called.

Great, thanks for the info, how do you access the lake? Do you have to cross the school grounds or is there a more public access point? I there a particular place to fish from?

I've taken my son fishing for trout a few times, but he hasn't shown the patience required to fish for trout. He likes eating the trout I've caught. I would like to take him somewhere where the bluegill hit like crazy so he can experience catching and reeling in his own fish, even if all we do is release it. Just so he gets to experience the fun of fishing.
I would rather be Backpacking
