They are starting a liquidation sale immediately and closing for good by April.

I think the idea of this upscale home re-model place was flawed from the start. I've been by that location in Roseville several times and it was NEVER busy. I think most people are happy with what Home Depot/Lowes has and if not small specialty stores fill the gap. Hell I know tons of people who buy their flooring from Costco.

A huge box store of high end lamps and tile isn't (wasn't) a good idea obviously.

Too bad. It was the only place I could find certain items. They had a better selection of fixtures, lighting, etc. Although, they could just expand Home Depot to carry that stuff, I don't think an entire store that size was necessary. All that wasted space displaying sample kitchens, bathrooms, etc., is only useful for major remodels and builds. That's obviously not happening much anymore!

I just read that it isn't just the Roseville store closing.
The entire Expo Design Center business is being canceled.

It isnt surprising Expo is closing up..sad but not surprising.

I found a faucet to replace the old ones in a bathroom that HD, Lowes, OSH and other hardware stores did not have. That said, hard in this economy to sell many $19K marble bathtubs, designer faucets at $1000-2000+\per set unless you are a former BofA\Merrill Lynch CEO, Saddam or a military contractor.

Second what Darth said - of the few times I have been there in the last year, never saw many cars or people inside.

I did like going to Home Expo for ideas. Then typically go somewhere else where it was cheaper to purchase. About the only thing I purchased there was some bathroom hardware. I might have to go see if the liquidation is the same as others, raise the price then sell at a "discount".

I'm curious about the discount sales, too. I mostly went there for ideas and to see high-end appliances such as Viking, Thermador, etc., in person.
