The community is invited to attend more engaging presentations in the Folsom Lake College Speaker Series this fall:
Darrell O'Sullivan - "Careers in Laboratory Science"
Tuesday, September 30, 2014, 12noon-2pm, Folsom campus, Peregrine Room (upper level of the Falcon's Roost)
Darrell O'Sullivan is a Clinical Laboratory Scientist and retired Chief Administrative Officer of the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at UC Davis Medical Center. His talk will cover the various technical and medical career positions needed in Clinical and Anatomic Pathology. This will include Medical Laboratory Technician, Clinical Laboratory Scientist, Pathologist Assistant, Histotechnologist, etc. Mr. O'Sullivan will emphasize the growing shortage of well trained and qualified candidates and how this impacts the practice of medicine and availability of future jobs. He will outline the education, post graduate training, licensure and experience needed for each position as well as anticipated initial salaries. Mr. O'Sullivan will also discuss future job trends and emerging specialty areas in Laboratory Medicine. The event is hosted by the college's Career & Transfer Services Center.
