We are having out-of-town friend over the 4th of July holiday,
and we want to see some fireworks.

Where are the best places?

I am willing to travel anywhere between Sacramento and
Placerville.

I understand Cal Expo has a show, but does it cost a lot to get in?
Is there one on Folsom Lake? If so, where?

Reviews appreciated. huh.gif

Most out of towners are amazed that Folsomites can still burn their own fireworks. Why not just have a great show in your street? Safe and Sane.

We always take the kids to the Sunrise Mall Fireworks show. It usually starts around 9-9:30. We usually avoid the crowd by not actually pulling into the lot

Right here in town, we used to park behind Midas when it was an empty dirt lot and watch the fireworks from the Folsom Rodeo. I think there are people that climb on their roofs in cimarron circle to watch as well.
I would rather be Backpacking

The Cal Expo shows are awesome. We always hang out in the block and light our own...

It's out of your traveling distance, but I celebrate my bday and 4th with my cousins in Lakeport.

After a family bbq we walk down to the lake and watch them light the fireworks off of Clearlake.

Yep, lightning in the distance is pretty spectacular, I alwasy love a good light show put on by momma nature, and the rolling thunder is so much more grand than the bang from gun powder biggrin.gif

That's gotta be photoshopped.

A couple years ago I saw a show in SF Bay but it was overcast... the mortars shot up into the clouds and then the clouds glowed blue and green and red. Weird.

Yes, it looks like multiple pictures merged together into one and we are seeing a 180 degree view.
The beach is presumably a straight line.

It is the ONE item that Indiana has California beat in! Hands down, Indiana sells fireworks at every corner gas stations that are better than anything I have seen in CA. PLUS I haven't seen a single lightning stirke since I moved here (Mother Natures fireworks!) Sometimes I long for a long night of pounding rain and the occasional ground shake from a near lightning strike.

And for the strange but true file....Indiana Law allows the sale of fireworks without restriction. However, the law prohibits the firing of most fireworks within the state!!??
