Have you ever noticed how many people drive right through the stop sign on Oak ave? or how many people make a right turn at the intersection on inwood on a red light without looking? Have you ever noticed how many families do not take walks in their neighborhoods? Why can't we get side walks that families can walk on (especially on F-A blvd by Inwood so that kids can walk home). Or how about a SAFE bike lane on F-A blvd with a guard rail so that traffic doesn't plow into them? Why can't we make our side of Folsom a little more walker and bike friendly?

I'm with ya, Supermom! Wish I knew the exact solution, but you can get active with Slow Down Folsom, Folsom Area Bicycle Advocates and your school's HEAL walking program.

Ok. But I never heard of any of them before. Care to tell me?

At Riley & McAdoo there are sidewalks and even a stop sign but I think you'd be shocked at how many people run that stop sign. This stop sign was noted before as people maybe not being able to see the sign....PLEASE. It's as clear as day but so is the speed limit sign of 40 mph they miss that one too. People just need to slow down and obey the stop sign and speed limits.

Slow Down Folsom is a traffic speed awareness group headed by our own Stevethedad and Forumreader. I'm sure they can give you info.

You can get more info on FABA at http://www.sacbike.org/faba/index.htm. Our very own Tony is the FABA chair.

HEAL Walking Clubs are a partnership between FCUSD and Kaiser. I don't know much more about them, but you can contact Ann Knickelbein, a school health program specialist at FCUSD for more info. aknickel@fcusd.k12.ca.us

Also, the City's Traffic Safety Committee meets in City Hall's Public Works Conference Room every fourth Thursday at 4pm. Show your concern sometime!

You know how every time there is an accident and people slow down? Maybe we should buy some totalled cars from the junk yard and put them on the corners in Folsom-where the worst red light runners, speeders,etc.- are. I wonder if that would get people's attention. Ofcoarse once I took an old camcorder tied it to a post with an orange extension cord and attached a camera flash with a timer out in my yard. Boy that worked!! People actually thought they were being recorded. Ha!!!!!

I just found this topic. I was so mad on Sunday. My 5 year old son and I were on a bike ride on the small bike path on FA just past Inwood. Here I am teaching him to stop at roads etc. We get to the light by the mobile home park - we push it to go over and a lady does not even stop - actually, I don't think that she saw us and went for it. I was furious. What else do I have to do to teach my son to ride safely?

once a month someone should sit on the corner with a paint gun and shoot every car that runs the stop sign. maybe the paint splotch on their car could be a strong reminder that stop signs are there for a reason.
