If the owner believes that renters with guns are a danger to him/her and his/her other renters, then his/her right to "life" trumps the renter's right to bear arms on the rental property.
Sounds reasonable. I'll consider this more. I don't like it, but it seems like a reasonable position (although perhaps based on what I would generally consider unfounded concerns).
