I agree! We love Brussels sprouts, we even sometimes bring 'em to have while camping. The way we make them is to first trim them, then blanch them whole, then cut them in half and saute them in garlic, butter and herbs.

I trimmed them, I didn't blanch, I cut them in 1/2 and sauteed them in bacon fat with garlic & pepper.
The ones I bought at Raley's were good. The ones my wife bought at Trader Joes were bitter.

I'm gonna stick with Asparagus and Broccoli from now on.
I would rather be Backpacking

Older brussel sprouts are more bitter than newer/younger brussel sprouts. Also, overcooking them makes them bitter. To help prevent overcooking them, slice an "X" into the bottom of each stem to help bring the heat into the center faster.

We're gonna walk on down to Thursday Night Market, so it will probably be hot dogs and beer for us tonight!

For me: ichibon sapporo with fried egg thrown in.

For the kids: baked bacon wrapped filet and noodles with cheesey cream sauce (came from a box)

The cat got gouret cat food and the guinea pigs got timothy.

For desert everyone got graham crackers and orange slice (well, the cat and pigs declined- but my son happily ate each of their shares smile.gif )

Dang it- the boy just asked me what's for supper!

Do they ever stop eating?

Last nights dinner was fabulous...trip tip sandwiches, onion and garlic baked potatos and watermelon!

Well since tonight is my night to cook, it will probably be chicken alfredo with broccoli, a salad and french bread....

Just bought some tri-tip from Folsom (Kabul) Meat Market and got a good marinade recipe from the owner: lemon pepper+fresh minced garlic+honey+olive oil - got it all marinading now and will be bbq'ing it later tonite along with bbq corn on the cobb and a Caesar salad.
