I think if he wins it would be great -
1) No more Fargo (that woman is a certified loon)
2) If we can't get an arena under his leadership, we never can.

What do we need a new arena for? They could build a friggin Taj Mahal and that won't improve the 11th best team in the West. It amazes me that people put so much time and thought into seeing a new place to see a terrible basketball team play.
Have you seen where they want to put that new arena? Tell me traffic wouldn't be 10x worse down there by Cal Expo. And of course you'd have to pay $10-12 to park on the same dirt that cost $3 to park on now? Quite frankly we'd be better off if they just hurried up and moved the team to Vegas.

Darth, just because the Kings stink now does not mean they will stink in 4 years (when the arena would open). It also should not factor in to whether or not to build one. Arco was outdated the day they built it... it simply is time for a new arena.

Hahaha......ok I'll bite....what then? Community pride and togetherness? A symbol of Sacramento? Mickey on Ice? Monster truck pulls? Oh I forgot, the Monarchs. They draw at least 2-3k lesbians for every game, now that's a spectacle to take the kids to go see!

Use search. This has been beaten to death before. No need to pollute this thread with reruns.

How the mayor is elected is set forth in the City charter. The charter could be amended to create a "strong" mayor.

Woo-Hoo! I didn't want a new arena before. Darth, you just sold me on it! Or at least on some tix to a Monarchs game!

Uh no Dave, I love sports, I just prefer to watch and support professional teams. And a new arena for concerts would be good as there is a reason they call it ECHO arena. However, the time for decent concerts past years ago and seeing Van Halen or whoever is 60 years old now on a reunion tour just don't do it for me.

Sorry dude, don't get too excited here. Think KD Lang, lumberjacks, and spiky hair dews. You won't find any lipstick lesbos at the Monarchs games, sorry. You'll need your porn stash for that!

I gave up the stash years ago. I don't entirely have a problem with the lumberjack look. I mean, how great would it be to have a woman that could ALSO cut down a cord of wood for you!

Actually, yes. Those intangibles, such as community pride, are the things that move a city from way point to destination. It's the same reason Folsom is rebuilding old town. Sure, they could tear it all down and build strip malls, but having a "crown jewel" in the community unites people and makes the city better off.
