MyFolsom.com is proud to present internationally known contemporary jazz guitarist Ray Obiedo in concert on Friday August 25 at 630pm, at Folsom City Lions Park.

Whether through his solo work, playing as a sideman, touring or producing, Obiedo has carved out a musical career spanning over four decades.

With a wide range of influences, from Miles Davis to Antonio Carlos Jobim and even James Brown, Ray Obiedo has developed a style that is at various times smooth, funky and tropical.

He has played and toured with Herbie Hancock, Lou Rawls, Sheila Escovedo, Grover Washington Jr. and many more.

His 7 solo projects include ‘Sticks and Stones’ which peaked at no. 7 on Billboard’s national contemporary jazz chart and his recently released his, “Latin Project Vol I”.

Ray and his group will be stopping in Folsom between stints at the San Jose and Monterey Jazz Festivals.

The concert is presented by MyFolsom.com, owned by Realtor Steve Heard, who said,, ‘Folsom has one of the top-rated high school jazz programs in the country, yet we rarely see  professional musicians playing jazz at our summer concerts here. I wanted our first jazz concert to feature an artist with a reputation for playing great, crowd-pleasing jazz music, and Ray fits that bill. We are honored to have him and his band coming to play for us here in Folsom.

This concert is supported by the generous donations of sponsors Style Magazine, American Pacific Mortgage, and US Bank.

There is no charge for this family friendly event. ‘It’s just a great way to showcase amazing jazz talent and close out our summer here in Folsom’, said Heard.

Bring a blanket and/or a chair, a picnic, and yes, responsible adults bring alcoholic beverages.

Don't miss this great event!
