+1

+1 means "I agree." It is an expression of an opinion. I've used it when I want to express that I agree with someone else and their line of logic, but either a) don't have anything further to add or b) don't have time to detail additional supporting information but want to get that opinion out there. Would those of you who criticize its use be happier if we typed out the words, "I agree"...????? What's the big dif? (LOL -- I said, "dif." Haven't used that one in a few decades!)
At least "+1" expresses an opinion, unlike certain posters who have a habit of merely posting links to articles with a) no explanation as to the main points of the articles and b) no expression of their own opinion about them.

A jargon term, used to agree with the parent post and show support. The use stems from moderation tactics of some forums in which points are awarded to posts as a way of rating them. Also used to denote a message board post made for no other reason than to raise the user's post count.

So if someone else has already made all of the points I would have made, should I repeat them all or just not post if I have nothing new to add to the mix?

I, too, am a fan of +1, but only when you add a statement of fact or opinion with it.

Do you have any idea how embarrassed that poor pussy cat is about that dang collar--and then you go and post a picture of him wearing it on the net.
Man-that is so cruel.
I hope no one ever posts embarrassing pics of you like that--without your consent
