Calling all runners, walkers and families who want to help local schools! Registration is now open for second annual “Making the Grade Run for Education” scheduled for Sunday, September 16, at the El Dorado Hills Golf Course at the bottom of Serrano Parkway in El Dorado Hills.
This fun and festive family event will offer something for everyone -- 10K and 5K trail run/walks, professionally-timed by Capital Road Race Management, as well as two fun runs designed for kids 12 years and younger. Last year’s event drew race participants from throughout the greater Sacramento region. New this year, following the races, will be a huge Buckeye Family Fun Festival featuring food vendors, bounce houses, music, games and activities organized by volunteers from each of the seven schools in the Buckeye Union School District.
Participants can register online at www.makingthegraderun.org or through the mail and the first 100 registered will receive goodie bags. All children ages 12 and under participating in the 1 mile and ˝ mile fun runs will collect a medal for participation. The school boasting the most number of race participants will be awarded the “You Made the Grade” event banner to display on campus.
All proceeds benefit the Buckeye Education Foundation, a private non-profit which has worked the past three years to successfully restore important district-wide library and P.E. programs cut due to a lack of funding.
