Tariffs hurt the very people Trump promised to help.

Guess we can say goodbye to "Make America Great Again!"  :loco:     :usaflag:     :wave2:

What a joke!   :CRAZYLOCO:

Tariffs cause BMW to move production out of South Carolina.

https://www.dailykos...-South-Carolina

And it’s not just existing SUV models that will be affected. Planned future models, including those with technology not yet available to BMW customers, will also be made outside the US.

It looks like the 10,000 BMW employees in Spartanburg, South Carolina will be out of luck in all this.

They can thank Republicans for the hostile business environment in the US, one that will be costing them jobs.

Republicans Vote To Send Trump A Message On Tariffs

https://www.huffingt...4b048036ea4d2b8

The Senate on Wednesday sent President Donald Trump a message on his actions on tariffs, which have roiled world markets and opened an escalating trade war with allies and adversaries alike. Senators voted 88-11 to pass a motion introduced by Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman Bob Corker (R-Tenn.) aimed at giving Congress a role in determining when the U.S. can impose tariffs on other nations on “national security grounds.” Lawmakers of both parties have accused Trump of abusing that power

Who's the idiot? The US is the biggest consumer of products in the world!

Other countries need us far more than we need them.

I go to second hand stores to buy things, because I am so fed up with buying "Made in China" crap!

We've made China the second largest economy in the world, but I guess that's not enough until they take over our country, huh?    Go pound sand!

                                     :USA:   America First!!!!

Love China so much?...go live there!

Soybean farmers, apple growers and auto workers are among the US workers bracing for fallout from a trade war between the United States and China.

Oh, how embarrassing!

Funny, I have a hard time finding fruits and veggies grown in the U.S., yet our farmers seem to have plenty to send to other countries.

I guess it's because they make more money selling to them, than selling to their own people.

These are the exporters that pushed to have trade agreements with other countries to begin with. I don't feel sorry for them. They are big agriculture. The ones who grow GMO crops that Americans don't want anyway.   :drink:

But if if makes you feel better, Uncle Vinny, go ahead and think this is a big deal, and have another pint for me.

Trumps tariffs should hit farmers and small manufacturers right about the same time as the mid-term elections.

:beehive:    :noyoudint:

Let's see how that turns out!   :eehee:
Bye-Bye,

Trump Heads To Iowa This Week As Farmers Struggle With Tariff Fallout

https://www.huffingt...dushpmg00000003

He hopes to ease concerns while boosting a local congressman in the middle of a challenging re-election fight.

The price of American soybeans has already dropped some 20 percent since Trump levied import tariffs on steel and aluminum, triggering retaliatory penalties from China on soybeans, pork and other crops, the newspaper noted. China was the largest buyer in the world of U.S. soybean exports, but now purchases have all but vanished, the head of a major international soybean processor told Bloomberg earlier this year.

“Whatever they’re buying is non-US,” Soren Schroder, CEO of oilseed processor Bunge, said. “They’re buying beans in Canada ... mostly Brazil, but very deliberately not buying anything from the U.S.

Any intelligent person would wait and see exactly what effect the tariffs will have for the American economy

and the American consumer.

And a truly wise person - - one who has an education and has done his economics homework - -

would quite reliably predict that a trade war will have disastrous effects for all parties concerned.

Science studies have shown that cooperation in economics is far more favorable to all sides than

narrow-minded self-interest alone.

I guess some folks have to learn the hard way by seeing their finances damaged before

they see the light.

You don't have any idea what you're talking about.

Do YOU have a degree in Economics???  Have YOU any idea what tariffs other countries are charging us, compared to what we are charging them? No, you don't.

The real issue here, is that very rich people are making money on trade with other countries and don't much care how THAT effects our country or consumers. The crops that are being sold most to other countries are soy beans. GMO soy beans, to be exact.

Just try going to Trader Joe's and buy produce grown in the USA. Slowly, our farmers have given up competing with Mexico's produce.

But, you don't care about THAT hurting farmers, do you?

And then there's the loss of millions of US jobs, due to trade agreements.

Another thing YOU don't consider or care about, right?

Any "wise" or "intelligent" person would not speak about things they don't understand or know.

First, you cannot make a whole slew of assumptions about another person that you know nothing about,

nor can you assume what another person knows or believes.

The real issue here is Trump stupidity.

Trump imposes tariffs on China and other countries.
Those countries retaliate with their own tariffs.

American consumers and businesses suffer billion in losses.

So now Trump gives farmers $12 billion for "protection."
What's next? $20 billion to "protect" manufacturers and then car-makers.

And so on.

So he "SAVES" $50 billion by imposing tariffs, then SPENDS $75 billion to bail out those industries the

tariffs hurt in the first place.
Simply Stupid!

Whoa! Fox News faults Trump on Tariffs!
Sheesh! Even the most closed-minded idiots :summerteeth:   :newyear:
will have to face the fact of Trump stupidity on this one!

:BOO:

Trump's trade war is economic suicide

http://www.<span sty...ic-suicide.html

To repeat: American consumers -- not foreigners -- will ultimately pay the bulk of the price for these trade obstructions.

Expect to pay a few thousand dollars more for your next car or truck.

Thanks to Trump's tariffis.

Trump’s proposed auto tariffs will lead to sharp spikes in the price of Americans’ most prized possession

https://www.thisisin...r-prices-2018-7

  • President Donald Trump shows no sign of pulling back from his trade war, and the auto sector appears a dangerous next candidate on the administration's list of goods that should face tariffs.
  • Economists at the Peterson Institute for International Economics forecast a sharp spike in auto prices from Trump's proposed 25% tariffs on auto imports.
  • The sticker-shock would severely hit a sector that has been key to the economic recovery.

  • The average price of an entry-level compact car will increase between $1,408 and $2,057.
  • The price of a new compact SUV/crossover, the most popular vehicle in the country, will rise by $2,093 to $3,066.
  • More upscale versions of the compact SUV/crossover will rise by significantly more, $4,708 to $6,972.

Trump is WAY over his head. A trade war would be a disaster for American consumers.

Expect higher prices this Fall.                          :loco:       :beehive:

China accuses U.S. of 'blackmail' amid reports of higher tariffs by Trump administration

https://www.politico...fs-trump-754693

"U.S. pressure and blackmail won’t have an effect. If the United States takes further escalatory steps, China will inevitably take countermeasures and we will resolutely protect our legitimate rights,” Geng Shuang, the spokesman, told reporters

Bloomberg reported Tuesday that the Trump administration is considering upping a planned 10 percent tariff on $200 billion worth of Chinese imports to 25 percent, part of a larger administration push to reset the trade relationship between Washington and Beijing onto terms President Donald Trump says will be fairer to the U.S.

Trump tragic trade war  trashes American companies.

Bye-Bye, MAGA!        :usaflag:     :USA:     :wave2:

These companies might close, lay off US workers because of Trump's trade war

https://www.usatoday...-war/929019002/

as the fight continues, some companies are having to absorb the blow. Several have raised prices or
suffered lower profits while others announced the possible closing of plants, layoffs and halting plans to add jobs.

LittleVinnie, your opinions on financial and economic issues in America are irrelevant because you were gutless and never criticized Obama when he was doubling the national debt and screwing up healthcare. You are not credible. You are a propaganda machine bereft of truthfulness, relying heavily on the MSM for your "facts".  But I do appreciate it when you make ignorant comments that can be turned around on you so easily!  Oh, and USA TODAY is *Fake News*.  Consult chart below.   :cheer:
