Hehe. I beat ya to the post for once. smile.gif

hey where is Bud's located? never heard of that one. .. .and I'm with you about the Gun Room - that place was the most expensive shop around here, but they sure do have a lot of stuff

out of all the shops I've been too, I have to say I like Wild Sports best because all the guys that work there are very knowledgeable about their products and they have a good selection (although it is the smallest of all the local shops)

Sportsman's Warehouse has the biggest selection (I think) but there's only 1 or 2 guys there that actually know what they're talking about

the usual requirements, you have to have your Cali Gun Permit card and go thru the background check and 10 day waiting period

I'll need to get my HSC (handgun safety certificate)...I assume these dealers can administer the test?? I know it's $25...

Somehow I doubt the criminals need a HSC.....

+1 on WS on knowledge (ie - talk to Gary) but they don't have much selection / stock.
+1 on SW selection and knowledge. Good selection but know what you want before you go.

Last time I bought a hot gun out of the back of a van, I had to complete all sorts of forms and present my HSC for inspection. Then I had to come back in two weeks and meet the guy in the alley again after the waiting period was up. By that time, I wasn't a murderous criminal anymore!

Just kidding.

Seriously, though - don't buy that pop-gun. Buy my stainless 4" barrelled S&W 686+ .357 instead!

BTW, personally, I'd highly recommend not purchasing a gun unless you've actually tried it first.

How the gun fits in your hand. How it feels when you shoot it. Field stripping. Safety features (do you like them or not). Adaptability (can you replace the grips? the sights? etc).

But most of all, how it shoots for you. Highly recommend renting guns first.

As long as we're making personal (9mm) recommendations:

P226 9mm and/or HK USP9 or P2000. Woof Woof.

Oh oh, when you buy range ammo, don't forget the Wild Sports coupons in the Bee (usually Thursday Sports, sometimes in Sunday).

The SwissMiniGun is less than 6 cm long, and shoots 2.34 mm rim-fire ammunition. It can be ordered in 18K gold, and even set with jewels.

But how do you get your finger into the trigger guard?*

For my own household defense, I would much rather have a Victorious Mongoose 1902a Concealable Ray Pistol. Leaves no evidence! At all!

*Yes, I saw it's only for show and the whole thing is the trigger. Just let me be funny, ok?

I'm about to 'pull the trigger' (sorry) and purchase this. Any thoughts about the Taurus brand? This seems like a reasonable price, and most reviews I've read have been favorable.

Make sure you learn how to clean your new weapon in the kitchen, while it's loaded, with plenty of family members around. Ya know, like the trained professionals do.

Too many ppl in this thread shooting off their mouths and going off half-cocked.
Time to bring down the hammer, and put them under a barrel.
