Pushing forward on ambitious plans to expand and remodel Sacramento International Airport, county officials Tuesday unveiled three possible designs for a soaring and airy new terminal as the focal point.
The new terminal, part of an estimated $1.1 billion expansion, would replace the airport's aging Terminal B by 2011.

.. I saw the sketches on the news last night! Way cool! I'm glad to see they're finally updating that outdated terminal!

This is badly needed. Terminal B is a joke.

I had to go to Terminal B once...I didn't know Nicaragua had a national airline.

They're actually going to build a new terminal B, and leave the existing one. Then, when it's complete, level the old one. That will be fun to watch, I hope they blow it up!

I think this is an easier argument to win.

I wonder if that means that FedEx will now be moving out to Mather. I suppose it depends on how far over they are going to push over that new Teminal and which direction.

yeah me too - me thinks improving our "international" airport is just a tad more important then building another arena

I'm surprised they're not flying into Mathers already.... or maybe DHL and UPS have exclusive rights there...?

The lease that FedEx has out at International is one of the 5 cheapest in the company. Until the county really wants them out of there and makes it uncomfortable for FedEx they have no plans to leave and go to Mather. Thats why I was wondering what direction the new terminal was going to be built. If it goes out towards Air Cargo(or whats left of it out there) It just might make FedEx jump to mather.
