That's not what I'm saying, nor what those who were offended by it were saying.
We're saying that there are lots of reasons why one might not look like Ms. Kang. Reasons, not excuses.
Before and after photos, an explanation of her background, or 'if I can do it, you can too' are much better messages than, 'what's YOUR excuse?'
There are people who make good personal choices, eat right, and exercise daily, and they will never look like that. They need to know that that's okay. They don't have to be held to her standard. Good health and physical fitness does not equate to 'fitness model'.
It really is all about excuses, but I guess they could be called "reasons" too.
We are all full of excuses, I'll be the first to admit I am.
I am too busy getting ready for work to exercise in the morning, I'm too tired at night to work out in the evening. I don't work out because I have many excuses, or reasons, for not getting exercise. I never get around to it because it's easier to use excuses.
I always hear that big cheesy pizza or monster double decker burger calling my name, so I gotta go eat 'em, that's my excuse for not eating better.
It's not because I'm genetically incapable. It's just because I'm full of excuses or reasons not to bother getting in better shape.
Seeing that lady's picture of her with her kids and hearing the story is inspirational to me - I really should eat better and work out too! I was blown away that so many people got upset at her and claiming it wasn't because they were jealous, just that they don't believe her story... really it's just more excuses.
