We've talked about the barbecue places nearby, the one near Bel Air, Barbecue Express, and Lucille's. All good I am sure.

The other night, though, my neighbor took us to Yunece 61. It is in a kind of cartoonish looking shopping center at Folsom Blvd and Bradshaw.

The inside is spacious and rather upscale looking.

You smell that great barbecue smoke when you walk in the door.

I had spare ribs, my buddy had baby backs, and our wives got the Korean short ribs.

Sides include corn bread, corn, cole slaw, and collared greens. I think they have mac and cheese or mac salad. I don't remember.

Anyway, everyone agreed that the greens and the cole slaw were the best of the ones we tried.

The meat was tender and smoky. The sauce, sweet but not too. I added a little tabasco (naturally) on mine. The girls liked the Korean short ribs, but thought they were too fatty. I think you get that with that style of rib.

Prices were reasonable. I think our plates were about $18 to $20.

We all agreed we'd go back again and again.

By the way, they have several asian style dishes as the owner, Yunece is from Korea. We talked for a little while, and I never did get around to asking her how she learned to do this southern style barbecue, but she does it well.

Service is friendly, prices are reasonable, it's close by, and the food is great.

They also support the community, and will be serving up samples at the Taste of December, at the Rancho City Hall.

Check 'em out!

I usually find people overcook greens. These were tender, but still had texture, and had bits of bacon in it. Good stuff.

Have you ever had the turnips greens at Cracker Barrel? Yum. Taste just like my Grandma used to make 'em with fat/bacon. Sprinkle a little vinegar on 'em and you're good to go!

I have eaten at Yuence 61 (3) times since they have opened. Not bad BBQ, generally pretty good sides. This location was formally Boss Hogs for several years before re-incarnation as the Yuence. Big building- big bar. at at my last visit- it seemed very clean. Good BBQ- not the best, but good..

I'll have to try that place out.

Just drove by there for the first time and that mall area sure has a crazy disney type theme to it - very odd for the area but gotta give them props for creativity
