I am looking for recommendations on deserving non-profits that work with cats, and or dogs. My first two thoughts
were Folsom Feline Rescue or the Sacramento Humane Society. I have no experience with either and need to recommend
a legit place for several people.

Here's a list of animal welfare groups in the area.

I have adopted cats from both Folsom Felines, and Animal Outreach of the Mother Lode, and both seemed like fine organizations.

Edit: Note, Folsom Feline does not do adoptions anymore, they focus solely on spay & neuter and trapping programs for the City of Folsom now. These types of programs can be a little controversial, just thought you should know.

I donate often to Folsom K9. They accept donations to help cover medical bills for retired K9 officers right here in town.

Not to distract from the topic, but is there a good animal related non-profit that could benefit from non-monetary donations?

I'm a foster for the Sac SPCA. They could also use donations. :)

I can't say enough about NorCalGSP Rescue - they focus their efforts on finding every GSP (German Shorthaired Pointer) in the Northern California region, and transporting them to foster homes from kill shelters or any unwanted situation. From there, they try to find them homes. They care for them medically and do a great job for the breed. They will take in GSP's from any situation and find homes for them.

I contribute to them yearly and often, as I can.

They are GREAT people!

p.s. Yes, that is my Great Dane Rescue in my profile pic, we can talk about Great Dane Rescues too, if you still have funds available :)

I am going to add Noah's Wish. The volunteers go through intense training in order to rescue pets after disasters such as hurricanes, fires, etc and either reunite the pets with their owners or find new owners. By the way, they are always looking for donations of miles too.
