The old adage of 'out of site- out of mind' is very often a factor in this forum... As many ( or most) use the NEW POSTS tab to check for updates and follow threads it might be very beneficial to change the default view from 24 hours to 48 hours so very recent posts are still showing and getting more views and posts on them...
Sure one can change to look at the LAST WEEK but most of us are often too lazy to do that and just settle for what is in the default area.

I think that's a good idea. I've taken to just scanning the default once per day, then I'm back off the site again. If I forget a day, then I won't take the trouble to look further back than what is on the "new posts" display.
