I have not heard of either of these instances.
My point in questioning is that this "possibility" of bike paths being used to access property by criminals is a fear way out of proportion to the risk, just like the fear of kids getting kidnapped walking or biking to school is way out of proportion to the risks (which are very small compared to the chance of them getting killed by a car while being driven to school). And this fear often leads to grave concerns by neighbors about paths being build through their neighborhoods or especially behind their homes (I've been to enough public meetings as both a consultant and an advocate to have heard all the fear mongering). But the fact is that the amount of crime that can be associated somehow with bike paths (or being brought to town on light rail, for that matter), is minuscule compared to the amount of crime perpetrated by folks driving up to your house on the street, always the easiest access and escape.

I love seeing kids outside playing.Be sure once you choose a neighborhood or street that you visit several times at different days and hours. Just go park and listen. Is there a lot of traffic, tons of noise?
We have friends who live in the Parkway and there are so many little kids on the street, the parents put up cones and let the kids play out there all the time. IN THE STREET. That would make me nuts. Not only the noise but it makes it very difficult to get in and out. You're always waiting for 6 kids, bikes, etc to get out of the street.
To the OP, Folsom is a small Town. Most kids from from both high schools have intermixed in former schools and extra curricular activities. I dont think kids have a harder time fitting into either school. Although, I think there are a few adults who have thought there should be a reason to.
FH is more traditional as far as # of school spirit days and activities, and football having a firm foothold.
VDL has a stronger track team
FH has a strong jazz and choral
VDL is stronger in theatre and string
FH has every Friday minimum days
VL has every Wednesdays
Folsom has mostly traditional 50 minute class periods/6 periods/ 2 semesters for 1 full year on core subjects per semester switched funny with 1 day a week extra long period for "open period"-used for make ups and tutoring or studying
VDL has 93 minute classes/ 4 classes per semester/ each semester squeezes a full year for core classes. They also have one day a week with tutoring/makeups/studying period.
I find both schedules confusing. I am never exactly sure just what class they are in, when I need to pick them up for appointments. I find that irritating.
Tutor companies say most of their math students are from VDL because the semester system pushes too much info in each period.
However, their language arts program, and foreign languages seems to be flourishing, along with their technology and sciences.
I think Folsom also does well in sciences, and enjoys a strong nationwide aptitude in extra curricular in student robotics.
In summation- Folsom has excellent HS.
