Returning to Folsom this afternoon via US-50, I exited at E. Bidwell and rolled up to the Iron Point Road traffic signal. I was greeted by a beggar standing on the median (left turn lane onto Iron Point) holding some sort of sign. He was hitting-up motorists for cash who happened to be stopped in the left turn lane.
I certainly credit him for ingenuity. Lots of $$$ are traveling through that intersection.
Is anyone else annoyed by this type of behavior?

Not in the least. I wouldn't give em any money, but it doesn't bother me. Not that Folsom isn't a nice town, but I don't think of $$$ when I think of it. If the begger wanted to try to get some serious cash, he should have gone to El Dorado Hills - that's the town that comes to mind when I think $$$$.

I think we can safely draw a line between supporting those less fortunate and allowing heroin junkies to beg at every stop light.

Are you implying that they weren't junkies? That the people I saw were just less fortunate unemployed citizens? Now, I'm sure I'm not always a perfect guage of people, but heroin junkies have got to be one of the easiest type of addicts to spot:

I don't recall ever being bothered by one. I'm sure it's happened, but so infrequently that I don't take notice of it.
