You can get sick from almost any place you eat.

I have gone to Lake Tahoe quite a few times, the last time for our anniversary.  The last two times I have gotten sick from eating salmon.  I will not eat fish up there ever again.

These were good restaurants too.

Interesting, the way we react.

You get sick on salmon in Tahoe, so you will never eat salmon in Tahoe again. What about Placerville? Reno?

My wife and I both got sick at Gepetto's at the Disneyland Hotel. I mean SICK, to the point that they sent a nurse up to our room.

Our kids were small and didn't quite understand, so I had to tough it out and take them on the rides. They were kind enough to ride the train around the park with me a couple of times to give me a break. I never went back to that restaurant.

When I lived in SF, I used to eat at Kam's diner on 1st. Greasy, filthy place. Got sick a couple of times, but a 3 item plate for $2.75? I was willing to risk my health.

Steve, like I said, you can get sick anywhere you eat. If it happens, it happens. I am not sure I won't eat salmon again up there, but I have not gotten sick eating it down here. I guess it is the chance you take no matter where or what you eat. If a lot of people get sick in one place, then guess you don't continue to go there.

By the way, have you noticed, it is HOT outside?

Bah... just because you got sick their once doesn't mean you shouldn't eat there again, for the same reason you wouldn't eat your mom's cooking if she made you sick ONCE.

I got bad food poisoning in India once, had to get glucose pumped back into my blood stream through both my elbows.. I could hardly walk after that ordeal, but doesn't prevent me from eating at streetside grills everytime I visit...

My wife, daughter and I went to Mel's tonight after going over to see all those old cars by Red Robin. Nice afternoon and evening.

Our three meals at Mel's were very good. No problems at all. To stuffed to have dessert but will go back tomorrow and have that.

Very good overall.

We ate there about 1 week after it opened. Our meals were fine but not great, remember this is a theme restaurant focusing on simple food. The service was good too.
If you want something much much better try the burger and "chips" at Streets of London Pub (best to split between 2 people).

Our family went to Mel's this week for the third time since they opened. Another enjoyable experience was had by all.

I never have enough room left for dessert and I'd like to try it there sometime......think we'll have to go JUST for dessert sometime.

Good question.......I don't know. But somehow I doubt it. They seem to be more shakes, sundaes, etc. Honestly, I have not read the dessert menu yet, just seen others with dessert and it looked good!
