Community Service Day has the volunteers they need, but we still need your help! Just about every home in Folsom should have received at brown paper bag for the food drive. Saturday, Oct 25, starting at 9am, rain or shine, volunteers will be driving the neighborhoods to pick up bags of non-perishable food. Please place your bag where it can be seen from the street, as the volunteers will not be ringing door bells. Please do your best to help out, and give what you can.

My bag is ready, but tomorrow is Friday (Oct. 24); someone is rushing the sands of time!

I got a bag.  It will be a quite an undertaking to go out collecting those bags.  I'm sure they still need help.

I didn't get a bag. Can I put out any brown paper grocery bag or does it mean they didnt do the historic district and don't plan on coming by

I don't know why you didn't get a bag, but I saw a box for food donations at the Starbucks on East Bidwell & Glenn.  Maybe there's another drop-off place like that by you.  Give Twin Lakes a call maybe?

Some of the outdoor projects may be postponed due to the possibility of rain Saturday.  Probably best to check in at Lakeside Church at the morning sign-in to see what's going forward.  The food drive and indoor projects will still proceed.  Hopefully, they'll keep the site updated with what's postponed.

Perhaps we should put the groceries in plastic bags with their fliers on them.

Community Service Day

I hope that everything went well today, with the rain this morning and all.

We put a sack of food items out this morning and it was picked up around 10 AM.

Hope it was a great day for everyone that participated.

Any comments from those that turned out.

I put our groceries in a plastic bag because it was starting to rain. I had a chance to chat with the people who came to our neighborhood to collect them and they appreciated the plastic, saying that paper bags were falling apart on them. I really appreciated that they came around to collect; parking at Twin Lakes Food Bank can be challenging. Thank you to everyone who volunteered today!

We put ours in a paper bag to start with but when I saw it was raining we put it into plastic.

It sounds like the food drive was pretty successful.  In The Folsom Telegraph today it said that 82,000 lbs. of food was collected worth approximately $138,000.
