Just read the latest on the flu situation and it sounds pretty bad. Debating on whether to get a flu shot isn't going to help anyone at this point. Although getting a flu shot just may weaken your immune system for a while and may not be a good idea with the flu season in full blown mode.
Hand washing and avoiding sick people is fine, but what about taking the extra measures that could actually save you from getting the flu? For myself, wearing a mask and gloves while in public places, with many others walking around, is going to be my protection for the next month or so. That may sound extreme, but I'm not willing to take a chance with my life; people are dying out there and have done all the right things. And if those who care about others would do the same, the death rate might go down. You would be willing to take precautions for the sake of others? Think about it...the people who have died from the flu got it from somebody. How would you sleep at night knowing that you gave somebody the flu and they died?
I'm not going to eat out or go where I don't have to and wear my mask and gloves everywhere outside my home. At work I wear my mask and gloves and have been told I'm causing concern to other workers. I told my boss he can send me home, or he can face a lawsuit, because I have a right to protect myself from a deadly flu.
And a message to all who will call me names and scoff at the measures I'm taking. My brother's good friend just died from this flu. She was just 54 years old and had gotten her flu shot in Sept. of 2017. Now three kids have no mother. She went to the doctor right away and he said go home, rest and get plenty of fluids. The next day she died.
Get serious about this flu people! Doctors won't be able to help you after you get sick! Not everyone will die of the flu, but you might.
And I read this hasn't reached a peak yet. So things may get much worse before they get better.
Oh, and people over 65 should definitely wear masks and gloves!
I wish you you all good health.
