Looking to get my 5# co2 tank for my kegerator refilled.
I've heard welding shops or fire extinguisher shops are the best sources but I havent had much luck locating one nearby.
Anyone???

The closest place is Solon Fire Control in Rancho near CostCo. They refill for $15 unless your tank needs a new hydro test.

The Brewmeister in Historic will also do some sort of trade but I am not to sure how it works.

Folsom Brewmeister at Riley and Sutter will swap bottles for you.
Good gas and welding shops are leery of refilling bottles that aren't theirs; they want you to have a permanent rental of the bottle rather than owning it yourself.

thx for quick replies, I just got back from Solon Fire control with a filled co2 bottle.
It was $16 for the fill. There would have been an additional charge of $25 for a hydro test however the bottle I have was manufactured in '05 so it wasnt necessary.

Law requires that high pressure cylinders be tested occasionally. Good thing too. You use water instead of a gas, because water is incompressible and doesn't go KABOOM if the cylinder pops.

Any updated feedback on this topic? I have a 5 lb tank that I am going to need to get refilled. I usually do the swap here in town but it is about $30 and I know it is cheaper to refill myself. I would actually like to get a bigger tank though, at least 10 if not 15 lbs since I am running 2 kegs. If anyone knows a better or closer place than that Solon Fire I would appreciate the info!

I always go to Solon to get my 20lb bottle refilled. Cost is $20. Its a pretty quick drive over there if you take White Rock Rd. 5min and your in-n-out. I don't know if Salon sells tanks but you can find a lot of them for sale in various sizes on Ebay.
