No, the 3 other officers, in unrelated incidents.

If there was indeed a crime committed I'm not excusing it, but it seems such a shame. If this is the officer I'm thinking of, here's a twenty-two-year veteran of the force, served with the reserves in Iraq a couple years ago, and now the butt of donut jokes.

Wonder if there's a mixup with someone at Malabar giving permission to take it when they shouldn't have.

Personally I don't think it's that big of a deal, not sure if arrest or termination is warranted, but donut jokes are acceptable. wink.gif

I'll bet you dollars to donuts they hatched this scheme during an "information exchange" behind OSH one day.

Donut jokes are inevitable, I guess. Surprised there hasn't been a Chief Wiggums reference thrown out there yet.

They sure love to chit-chat behind OSH.

Wish they'd chit-chat while parked along Riley or Blue Ravine or Iron Point or any other speedway in town.

At least their presence would slow down the idiots in this city.

The cop who was "cooked" is a well-known so called Christian and has a lot of ties to Lakeside church.....So IMHO he knew he should have asked for the oil and they probably would have given it to him......I don't think he should necessarily get fired, but if this happened in March, why was he charged in June? Maybe he will retire with his FULL pension and change professions and open his own bio-fuel station????
Why were there three other cops involved? Maybe all the "fish" haven't been fried???
I don't think he should be fired if it was a one time thing and maybe he didn't think Malabar's was going to sell the oil???? I guess that will all come out in the news...
If this is just a one time incident, why did they feel it was newsworthy? Why ruin his family's reputation for supposedly $350 worth of old cooking oil.....Even though he turned himself in why did the City feel the need to publish the story??? SOmething is "fishy" about this story...

They likely wouldn't have just 'given' it to him. They sell the stuff for a profit. It's easy to joke that it's trash and he's a good guy, but it is valuable. He knew the law and still (allegedly) stole private property. That's theft, plain and simple, a crime, and terminable. IMO, it's more likely someone said he could have it, that didn't have the authority to give it away...

that's odd, I never realized there were that many bio deisel cars out there

It's my understanding that you usually don't have to convert a diesel engine to run on bio-diesel fuel - so there are potentially a great many vehicles that could run on bio-diesel.

The only conversion really necessary is conversion from cooking oil to fuel.

You can use biodiesel in any diesel car or truck. So there are TONS out there. Nothing like your car smelling like french fries. smile.gif

There must be more to the story.....Maybe he was selling the stuff to other neighbors?? Why ruin his family's reputation if it was not a felony? Just think it's sad if he had a perfect record and then did something wrong and it's a misdeameanor, why drag his name thru the mud??? Just seems odd.....I don't condone what he did, but at the same time don't think his name should be in the paper etc.....I bet some of you stole supplies from the office and never thought twice about it...Would u want your name to be published??? How many of you were in Sales and got extra gas and used the company car for a personal errand???? Etc. etc. etc.......How many of you waste hours on the internet instead of working? Isn't that stealing?????

I did find the article kind of crazy.

4 guys out on administrative leave from 4 different investigations, but then they only elaborate on one of them.
