American River/lake Natoma Trail Likely To Remain Closed Until Mid 201

The bike trail on the north side of Lake Natoma  has been closed since a rock slide last October, and now it looks like it will be spring before there are any attempts to fix re-open it. 

 

It seems the problem is that the cliff above is unstable, and CalTrans is in negotiations to fix it, but by the time they reach an agreement, then assess the damage, it will be winter, making the work potentially more dangerous, and with CalTrans focusing resources in major roadways.

WAPA has tree contractors taking out oaks and other shrubs under the power lines on the Folsom side right now.  Kind of sad, but I understand its for safety.

"Closed" is the operative word...and subject to interpretation.
