When did they add a bike path extension from the Folsom South Canal to Douglas Rd in Rancho Cordova? We found it yesterday and were surprised. It is great that we can stay on the canal and exit at Douglas Rd to get to Mather Field Rd! Much better than using Zinfandel.

Olivia, go west on the Lake Natoma bike trail, under Hazel and as you come up to the fish hatchery parking lot turn right onto Gold Country Blvd. Go to the first light which is Tributary and turn left. You will see access to the canal about half a block on your right. It will take you to Sunrise Blvd. You can cross Sunrise and stay on the Canal to White Rock, cross the street (no light here) and the Folsom South Canal will take you all the way to Jackson Hwy and beyond (we turned around at Grantline). If you climb the small hills, the first one after White Rock you will see a new bike path that will take you to Mather.
If you use Strava you will see a lot of segments out on this trail. As far as a map goes, just look on Google maps and key in Folsom South Canal. I think the canal road stops at Sloughouse rd

Here's a youtube video we created a few weeks ago on the Folsom South Canal. It was right after a rain. We had never seen washed out creeks on it, but we had never gone that far either. We rode on it to the Consumnes river. There would never be any washouts or problems between Folsom and Sloughhouse Rd.

We like the canal in the winter if the sun is out because it is warmer (no shade). In the summer it can be hot.
