Lucilles is by far the best bbq around. I remember the accolades given to Sierra Smokehouse on this forum a few years back and have been there a few times and have not been impressed except for the customer service from the owner who seems to be a really nice guy, but the meat has no smoke flavor whatsover. The meat may as well be cooked in an oven or slow cooker on a counter top at home with some sauce put on it. Texas West BBQ was horribble which is unfortunate and even their Mall location closed down. BBQ is labor intensive and validates a higher price, but if it is not great tasting, it will not last.
Lucilles theme,service and flavor is hard to beat and I wish they could come closer to town.

Lucilles is by far the best bbq around. My wife and I really like Lucille's as well. They need to open one at Palladio. But I won't hold my breath!

Lucille's is even better then some of the (so-called) authentic Carolina BBQ places I've been to lately while working in North Carolina
Two thumbs up for Lucille's! If you haven't been there you must try it soon, the food is great, the ambiance is great and so is the service but get there early because that place gets packed.

My wife and I finally made it over to Sierra Smokehouse recently, and I have to say, they were pretty amazing. I might just rank them higher than Lucilles. All the sides were delicious too, and like someone else pointed out, the people there are very nice and attentive.
If you are a BBQ aficionado, you should give them a try.

Ok, I tried Lucille's and I'd give it a "so-so". I had the BBQ Brisket salad and I ended up scraping off the meat and just eating the salad. The salad was fantastic - fresh and lots of yummy things in it. The meat was fatty and overly sweet and I coulodn't eat a bite of it. Now, I *am* pregnant and haven't really dug meat that much, so maybe I am not the best judge. 
The fried pickles were ok, though I prefer chips, not spears. Yummy breading - almost like a fried chicken breading. The fried onions were tough to eat - all tangled up and served in a rats nest of tangles. My hubby got the burger and said it was great. My friends got salads and veggie burgers and all were good.
I still can't find BBQ as good as I've had in San Antonio, where my coworkers took me to a place that I still dream about! ;-)

I doubt it...
You'll be hard pressed to find BBQ around these parts that can touch Texas. I travel to Houston/Austin area several times a year and make sure to get my fill of BBQ while I am there.

What's your favorite in Austin? I had one good and one bad experience at Iron Works. I'm told that Salt Lick and Stubb's are great, but never been to either.Did they have BBQ Brisket "Salads" in SA?

Here's the place I LOVED in SA. They bill themselves "The worst BBQ in teh world" which is puzzling but funny, I guesss?
