Last night I watch part of the performance for the first time. My thoughts:

1. I didn't see "sexy" in any of it. The tongue thing was not attractive at all.
2. What a cry for attention.

I agree that it wasn't sexy at all.  Epic fail.  It was just pitiful.

This is a rare occasion where I agree with Supermom.  I think there is something twisted going on in that family.  Do you remember a few years ago some photos came out of Miley and her father in odd, somewhat intimate poses?  It was weird. 

 

Miley's act was pathetic and disgusting.  I hope she doesn't get rewarded for it in any way, because that will just encourage more young stars to do the same.

I was reading a CNN article yesterday that said they put an article about her in their top spot, not because it was any important news, but because it brought people to their website and caused them to linger, thus making them more money. They even made fun of the "stupid" people who read it. A friend had "liked" the article on FB.

She is obviously an immature, attention seeking youngster with tons of money!

Today she bragged about how many tweets she got, and released various new provocative photos of herself, including one flipping off the camera. She also recently released the cover art from her new CD 'Bangerz' due out next month. What timing.

That 'CNN' article was actually a parody put on by 'The Onion', the webs fake news site. It is pretty accurate, however.

My 14 year old said she's on drugs. I agreed. There's weird and eccentric like Lady Gaga, but then there's her which was just twitchy and embarrassing.

My 12-year old hadn't seen it (thank you!) but after being asked what she thought she just replied that she though Miley Cyrus was trashy and an idiot. We watched about 30 seconds together of the more mild stuff and she hated it, "What is she wearing?! It's just so ugly!" along with, "Does she know how stupid she looks with her tongue sticking out?!" And a general, "ewwwww!"

So who was her target audience? She didn't come up with this idea alone. The VMA folks had to choreograph it and come up with costumes, Get Robin Thicke and the rapper in on it. It wasn't just her "look, Im not a little kid any more" mind that put this together. She has clearly been trying to change her sweet little girl image for a few years now. She is taking Madonna and lady gaga as her shock models, but with a novel new look. But other professionals, adults even, are supporting her in this.

And apparently it's working because she was the only thing anyone remembers from the VMAs.

But if being sexually outrageous is the thing hat makes you rich, what hope can we have for the future of our culture? When does the pendulum swing the other way?

I have an open mind and listen to a lot of types of music but good grief, the stuff coming out these days

is mostly crap.  

 

But then again, maybe its my age, I'm over 30.. something.. heh
