If the spillway is done, then we will KNOW FOR A FACT that we have literal *idiots* running water policy in California.

According to news reports, it's not scheduled to be complete until near the end of next year.

Why dump water now? What if we get no more rain? The Lake is only 50% full.
Totally...dumping water now seems ridiculous

"Although the spillway is expected to be operational by the end of this year, the entire project, including environmental restoration work around the construction site, is scheduled to be completed in October 2017."
Pretty sure the spillway is functional at this point.

The news just reported that Folsom Lake is 62 percent of capacity. They must be anticipating large amounts of rain and run-off from the mountains in the next few days; otherwise, it seems like there is a lot of room even if the spillway prevents them from letting it fill to 100 percent capacity.

The main purpose of the spillway is to be able to hold-back MORE water in the lake, even as storms approach, instead of dumping (wasting) large amounts of water to make room for expected inflows. At least that was MY understanding of it. That's why any talk of massive dumping of water is a little bit odd.

Someone who has the time needs to reach out to the local news media regarding this. We deserve a formal response/reason for the releases if they are happening.
I just looked at the outflow versus the inflow on the Folsom Lake CDEC chart and the recent inflows are far, far exceeding the outflow even the outflow was bumped up a bit. I'm not sure it could be characterized as "dumping" water. If anyone has different info, please share.

Not sure you'd get the straight scoop from the *news* media. They just parrot what these secretive Govt agencies spoon-feed to them anyway. It's always the underlying agenda that gets hidden.
