Here's what I've found so far in Old Town (haven't spent much time looking around the Capital yet):
Ten-22
http://ten22oldsac.com
The Firehouse Restaurant
http://www.firehouseoldsac.com/
Rio City Café
http://www.riocitycafe.com/
Any experience with these or other places??
Thanks!

Tower Bridge Bistro in the Embassy Suites, without a doubt. PLUS the amazing chef is a Folsom Resident.
I second that recommendation for Tower Bridge Bistro

Re: The Firehouse and kids...
One of the reasons I listed them even though they are fine-dining is because they actually have a kids menu so there would be options for my son to eat
Re: Tower Bridge Bistro
Sounds good, but I don't really see any kids options online... Do they have other options for the kids?
Re: Cafeteria 15L
Thanks, we'll add it to the list to check out.
Re: Ma Jongs
Forgot to mention that the preference was no asian foods, the visitors from Germany do not prefer it

Tower Bridge Bistro can accommodate any kids wants including the usual pizza, burgers, tacos, quesadilla or something more upscale. What did you have in mind for them? Happy to call the chef for you and ask. Thanks for the recommendations so far, please keep them coming!

I second Ella, Chops, Firehouse, Ten22, and add:
In Old Sac, Fat City (owned by Fat family but not Asian): http://www.fatsresta...et/FatCity.html
Lucca: http://www.luccarestaurant.com/
Waterboy: http://www.waterboyrestaurant.com/
Il Fornaio: http://www.ilfornaio...taurant_id=3154
Buckhorn: http://www.buckhorngrill.com/
Pronto: http://www.prontogo.com/
Fat's is ok, sandwiches, salads etc.
Waterboy, Ella, Firehouse and Il Fornaio not good for kids (though it depends on the kids, well behaved ones are fine; you never want to ruin someone's nice lunch out with "typical kids".
Tower Bridge has always been good every time I have been there
Ten22 is good for families and has has an interesting menu. New chef is good

I just have to comment that the underlying theme buried through this topic is that kids either
don't eat healthy or don't know how to act in a restaurant. Is this what their parents are intimating
that there is "nothing" for a kid to eat on restaurant menus? Do kids really only eat the crap from a kids menu
mentioned through this topic? Its sad to read how many comments that menus aren't for kids like there is some special food group that restaurants don't carry and therefore kids can't eat there. If these low end, low quality food groups are being fed to kids at every meal, where are they getting their daily nutrients that come from EACH meal? SMH I see nothing on the online menus of the mentioned restaurants that would not be palatable to a child, other than perhaps sharing a meal for size/cost.
