My first thought is 'heck yeah he deserves it!' He knocked his girlfriend unconscious then casually dragged her out of the elevator and down the hall to their room. No excuses ever for that.
The question is, why does he get fired for it? Why are sports celebrities treated differently than say, music or movie stars?
Chris Brown beats the hell out of Rhianna and he sells more records.
Sean Connery states that it's okay to hit women if they deserve it. He is a most beloved and knighted star.
Sean Penn, Mike Tyson, Alec Baldwin and too many more entertainers to mention have done horrific things to others, and we can't wait until their next song drops or their next movie comes out.
For sports stars, we want them out of a job. Why the difference?
It's not just with violence, either. Rock stars on drugs? No problem. Football player Josh Gordon caught with THC in his blood in off-season? Suspended for the entire season.
Our priorities are skewed and screwed.
FYI, I am in agreement that Ray Rice should be suspended, for the entire season. Too many kids and adults look up to our pro athletes and they have a responsibility to live as leaders.
It's not okay to punch a woman in the face, whether you are a football player or a rock star.
Why are so forgiving to some and not to others?
