The real problem here is that you get people from the late 1970's and on....    Radical environmentalist, tree hugger types, who graduated in "environmental science" from left wing universities (which is most of them, I know SF State was one of them as I went there....total liberal bias.....) and mentored by left wing environmentalist (think anti human...) .    They fill the EPA ranks and think oil is the ultimate evil and the sun and wind are so cool and the answer to all of our problems.....!   So sad is that maybe, at great investment in infrastructure and good sun and wind days we could get 10-15% of our energy needs on a good day, which are few and far between....... These people are now in their late 50's and early 60's and in the position to make "law" and say who can have a firearm in a National Forest and where they can have one........!    Which is few and far between according to them, really nowhere, if you could figure it out at all without a law degree from Harvard and a staff of 30 or so to tell you when and where you can fish and/or  hunt and carry a firearm legally and on what day and in what area............   Just get arrested somewhere in a forest with a gun in your hand and see where you and your confiscated firearm end up in the courts not to mention the $15,000 in court expenses to prove you were within the law all along and your 2A rights....!   You might get that gun back in two years maybe at best after paying all the fees but it would not be the same gun you left with that "Ranger" or "Sheriff".....    That gun would have been put away "rode hard and wet" without ever being cleaned or cared for after many days at the range in the hands of "law enforcement" for their practice days............    That is how they, big leftist government, get you in the end and every time....!  They can out wait you and they have way deeper pockets than you can imagine....!      If you are a law abiding hunter or sportsman you are an "endangered species" but not really on the government list for that for sure, More like the government "target list".....!    You are expendable and meant to be "disappeared" in the next 20 years according to the plan.............!  Just look up what was going on in El Dorado county these last several years with the federal patrols taking every gun anybody went out into the forest with (legally of course, but were taken by overzealous feds)..........    Look it up, it is all there to see.    Chris
