I never went because of the whiskey girls. Just like I haven't ever spent a penny at Hooters. To each their own.

I didn't mind the idea of the 'whiskey girls' until I saw one of my daughters' childhood friends dressed up as one. Very uncomfortable for me.

As for Hooter's, it's about the wings, don't you know?

So what exactly would you like to see in this space?

unique & independent, or a chain that doesn't have a saturated presence in the Sacramento region.

Unique to me would be something like Hawks. But they chose to expand to downtown.

Another unique restaurant would be like Taste in Plymouth.

But I don't think that space would be good for either of these 2 restaurants.

I don't have a specific business in mind. I realize it is a huge space. Unless they subdivide, then it's probably going to require another popular chain. Maybe a department store would be better, as much as I hate Macy's that would be potentially good because there are no department stores in Folsom.

The problem is, as noted in another thread here, is that quality & service seems to be decreasing in many businesses. I really liked the Yard House in Roseville when I first went, but the successive times were mediocre, and now I wouldn't voluntarily go back unless nothing else was available. Even my latest fav, Fire & Flame had become blah on my 3rd visit..poor service & bad beef.

So wishing....how about an Apple store.

Oh! I just thought of the perfect restaurant that I've been begging to come to Sacramento. They are based in Visalia/Traver & recently opened a huge complex in Kettleman City. Bravo Farms. http://www.bravofarms.com/  Dang, I was just there this past weekend. I don't know how a restaurant in a po-dunk valley town can be so consistently fantastic & better than anything here. Probably their insistence on using prime meats.

That's hilarious. Glad I didn't have to experience it.

I can relate. My nephew's former girlfriend was a Hooter's gal and a nanny to her nephew. It was hard to connect the two. She was a licensed cosmetologist but, at 20, she made bank serving.

Hooter's, Toby Keith's, Tilted Kilt - sigh. Not getting my business.

A Yard House Restaurant would be nice and would fit perfectly
in that space.

Yea, no to Apple. D&B would go great there or a yard house. It would remind me of the fountains but better, (kind of)

out of everything I said, you cherry picked this one comment & ignored everything else. sheez.

I do think Yard House would be a good fit for that location. It's exactly what Folsomites seem to want/need - another large, loud chain establishment with mediocre food.

Palladio will never come close to comparing with The Fountains. The flow is totally different, closed in, no open/airy central location, doesn't have the same friendly, downtown feel. Elliot would have to change the entire configuration to even compete with The Fountains, and we know that isn't going to happen.

I sure won't miss the sound of loud motorcycles leaving that place most late nights.

I don't like to see "good" businesses go, but a poorly run business as this one I'm not going to lose any sleep over.

Unfortunately, that's what the public wants, more of the same. We want the same shops and restaurants wherever we go. Sameness rules.

The last thing I care about is another restaurant or store.  Yawn.

So how about a bowling alley, or other games establishment, for the "upscale" Palladio crowd?

I don't know how the economics would play out for such a venture.

I would also like an Apple Store (we have a lot of Apple products in the house) but alas I have serious doubts the region is dense enough to support three in the area (Arden, Roseville, Folsom). Apple is pretty picky about where they put these stores.

Maybe Lucille's BBQ will hang their sign here. I posted in the Restaurants thread about a rumor that came from a server in their Rocklin location. Though they like that "country shack" building look so I suspect they would build a new restaurant rather than occupy this space.

Even though it's a chain, I would like to see a Tommy Bahama's store and restaurant.  While there are a few stores in NorCal, there are only 3 restaurants, all in SoCal.  I don't buy from the store, but have eaten at the restaurant and the food is very good.

I think the Sacbee reported it was going to be Nordstrom Rack.

It looks like other Toby Keith's locations have closed or are on the verge: http://www.dailypres...0102-story.html
