It was sad as usual.....wish they had a quarterback who could actually throw to the receiver instead of 20 feet over his head......wish they would stop getting so many dang penalties and learn how to have better defense.

the team needs a better coach and better discipline...they made way too many mistakes.

granted they did just play the champions and I guess its good that they didn't get beat too badly.

As far as Randy Moss goes he seems to be most effective as a decoy...but he won't be able to catch much until Collins (QB) learns how to throw better.

You forgot to mention the Raiders pathetic defense. Tom Brady picked them apart in the first half with the passing game.

Is anyone suprised at their defense? They were ranked dead last in 04. Give em a break. I was actually impressed with the D in the 1st half. They were able to limit Dillon to only a few yards.

As for Collins, the guy threw 3 TD's for 265yds. How is that sucking? Not making excuses for them, but they played a tough team away in their opener.

I agree, Norv Turner is best as a Coordinator not a head coach. But anyone who is a Raider fan knows that Al Davis runs this team. Not the head coach.

Game changers:

Missed FG
Interception

Regardless, they lost and a loss is a loss. Hopefully they'll learn from it.

Expect some surprises from the 49ers with their new-look defense.

Call me the prophet. Okay, it's the first game, and my other predictions have yet to come true, but hey, I'll take the 49er win.

They fought like heck.

Rattay was impressive with all those TD passes in the first half, that is for sure. It was SLR 6 and 49ers 21 at half time.

Damn it! I started Ashley Lelie over Brandon Lloyd in my Fantasy Football league!!

I dunno, but the Mike Nolan Niners look far more determined then the Dennis E Niners did.

They pulled out all the stops to get that victory. They needed to set the tone for the season, and it came against one of the league's most potent offenses.

Those guys are played hard for Nolan. I hope they can play with that same kind of intensity throughout the season. I'd like to think they can, now that they've seen it at work.

Don't make your Superbowl reservations just yet, but what a nice start.
