Wow baby is that really him or a faked picture? I always love their music.

If it's real then it's because he's a chain heavy smoker. Smokers have sad life.

Bummer, Eddie is one of the greatest rock guitarists ever. I saw him play last year at Arco when Van Halen got together and did a few concerts - he still rocked just as good as he did 20 years ago. I used to see them play everytime they were in town and was fortunate enuf to even see them a couple times at small clubs in Hollywood when they first started out.

Van Halen is one of the best rock bands ever - even with Sammy.

Poor Eddie has cancer now and is deteriorating fast. He was a hardcore smoker and its now catching up with him - he's the only guitarist I ever saw who would smoke constantly while playing and kept his cigerette in the guitar neck in between puffs.

Yes Clapton did smoke like that for a while - I saw him in concert a few times too and of the 4x's I saw him play, I only saw him smoking once, where as Eddie did it everytime non-stop EXCEPT for last years concert - guess he finally learned how bad it is for him.

yeah you gotta figure ol' Eddie's had a rough life of touring, partying and everything that goes along with it.
Age catches up with that partying sooner or later...and it takes its toll as evidenced by that photo of Eddie

Eddie Van Halen just turned 51 years old on January 26. He's had oral cancer and has also battled alcohol abuse (and maybe other substances). He just recently went through a divorce from his wife, Valerie Bertinelli. Some don't age as well as others.

It's sad how these folks who have so much money but yet don't seem to enjoy life to the fullest at the 40 and up age range because they abuse their bodies too much. Alcohols, drugs, cigarettes, chicks etc.
