And on this we agree. :)

I'll buy you a pint at Dolan's one night, should it come to fruition. :)

GRMA.  I'm not much into the black stuff, but a mineral would do. :)

So, there will be Doyle's and Dolans? In the same area? I hope people don't confuse the 2.

I don't do a lot of Irish bars, but have like Johnny Foley's in SF, though it is a bit touristy. Also, DeVere's in Sac is good.

There used to be one on Geary in SF, probably around 4th. I don't remember the name, but my dad took me there for a boilermaker the night my first child was born, almost 27 years ago.

Sorry for the confusion.  I've really rinne praiseach of this.

Doyle's is in the center where Handley's is on East Bidwell Street.  I forget the name of the last establishment that it is replacing, but it is more of a pub and serves food.

Dolan's Lounge is not in operation yet and is still in the planning commission phase and will be on Blue Ravine in what I believe is the same center where Mr. Pickles is.  The only description in the public notice for a conditional use permit was it will be operated as a bar so I'm not sure about food being served.  There are other establishments nearby that serve alcohol and I was wondering why they need a conditional use permit.  The only thing I could find is that the C-3 zoning allows a bar/tavern if there is a restaurant in conjunction with it, but if it is a bar only then they have to get the permit.  Per FMC there is "permitted use within the zone 500 feet or more from residential and 1,000 feet from the property line of any public or private school," K-12, "as long as operating hours are 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m."

Got it. Doyle's is in the spot where, since I've been living here, there's been Buck Shorts, Mooney's, and my favorite Folsom restaurant that ever was....Bailey's.

So I went to Doyle's last Sunday for a cheeseburger and a pint of their red ale.  Happy to report that I had a great experience.  The food and drink was excellent and the staff was very friendly.  I'll definitely be going back.
