Mass shootings test power of an NRA in turmoil

https://thehill.com/...-nra-in-turmoil

The NRA has faced months of internal conflict.

In April, Oliver North was pushed out as NRA president after voicing concerns over lavish spending by the group’s top brass, including longtime CEO Wayne LaPierre. In June, the group shuttered NRATV after just three years of production and fired its longtime advertiser Ackerman McQueen, while Chris Cox, the NRA’s top lobbyist and legislative guru, resigned amid accusations he’d tried to topple LaPierre. The woes continued last week when three NRA board members stepped down, citing their “shattered” faith

The NRA also has come under fire for its ties to Maria Butina, a Russian gun rights activist

“If you compare now to 10 years ago, there are a lot more people in politics that are standing up to the NRA,” he told MSNBC on Monday. “Their grip on American politicians has loosened a lot.”

NRA Gets Subpoenas From D.C. Attorney General To Hand Over Financial Records
New York Attorney General Letitia James has also issued subpoenas for the records, which could threaten the NRA’s tax-exempt status.

https://www.huffpost...4b02a5a5d5a3370

The New York attorney general’s office opened its own investigation of the NRA in April after a report from The Trace revealed  financial mismanagement in the group that apparently allowed top vendors and executives to receive hundreds of millions of dollars in payouts.

Ohh! Better increase your donations!
The execs just might need another Lear jet!

Where were the the WaPo and the HuffpO when the Clinton Foundation needed investigating...?   Uranium one, Bill and Epstein on the plane some 27 times to "little girl" island....?   How come they suddenly got the "investigation" bug when a Republican was in office........?   Under Clinton and Obama they just laid low, did not investigate a thing...?   I think they were too busy writing feel good and accolade stories about Obummer and Billy Boy....  Then they fed them to CNN and MSNBC so they could publish all at once, keep the fantasy going.  Fantasy is over for you left wingers.  Reality is here and you don't like it, not at all.

Bill and Hillary hours after Epstein's death....  Me thinks they are a bit too happy....?

Love this idea!
Nut cases would have to pay huge premiums, and it would take the control decision out of the political arena.

A California mayor wants to require all gun owners to have liability insurance

https://www.cnn.com/...guns/index.html

The mayor of one California city wants to require all gun owners to carry liability insurance for their weapons -- or pay a fee to help shoulder the public costs of gun violence.

According to Liccardo's proposal, the insurance would cover "accidental discharge of the gun, and for the intentional acts of third parties who steal, borrow, or otherwise acquire the gun." It would not cover "liability of the policyholder for his or her own intentional conduct."

Another stupid law. This addresses shootings how?

All drivers are required to have auto insurance, yet in CA, about 1 in 8 dont bother to follow the law.  You gonna take away their cars?

As an aside, make sure your uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage is adequate.

How about the pot heads who go to weed shops to get their stuff (weed, federally illegal) but me, I have to get insurance for my guns and ammo (federally legal)...?   How about somebody HIV positive, they should too...?   Just in case, you know they infect someone......?   How about that....?   Does that fly with the left...?   How about the face covered Antifa violent ones, they should register and get insurance just in case they harm someone...?  And they will and do all the time.  Portland should get on that...!   How about illegal immigrants having to get insurance too...?  Yep, cross the border and buy insurance to pay for your flight back home if you get caught.   The absurdity of the left is just never ending.   Chris

Ohh!

‘I’m worried’: Allies fear NRA has lost its power in Washington

The NRA might not be able to fight the momentum for change after a pair of mass shootings in Texas and Ohio.

https://www.politico...control-1464581

The National Rifle Association’s internal turmoil is preventing the once-mighty organization from crafting a plan to blunt the latest gun control push, highlighting the group’s weakness at a crucial political moment.

In recent months, the NRA has battled numerous scandals — from lavish spending by top executives and a broader financial management crisis to a spate of board member resignations and an attempted coup at the group’s annual conference. It lost President Oliver North and top lobbyist Chris Cox, who is close to Trump. And Ackerman McQueen, its ad agency for nearly four decades, quit.

Sorry Bro, the NRA is not these fools in suits who live off of NRA donations...........   It is "We the People"..........    And at that you will never succeed in disarming us.  No one can do it, not the police that you democrats hate, they will not put their skins on the line to disarm the populace.  The law abiding populace.........   They are on our side, no matter what race they are or what they look like, they are Americans and know the drill.  Not going to happen.....   Chris
