That list could easily apply to about any form of dictatorial power, including Right-wing nationalism.

Not a chance......

Right wing, conservatives do not like debt, want low taxation, would encourage gun ownership and self defense, would make people work for their welfare, would encourage religious and charter schools, encourage religion and prayer if one so felt inclined-even at high school football games, etc..., and would not encourage excess taxation of the wealthy.  I think you did not read old Saul's recommendations very closely...?

Nice try but not well a thought out one.  Read it again and tell me that is not exactly what today's progressive far left wing of the democrats has almost accomplished in the USA....!   Think class warfare, the richest 1% bs they always throw out and the threat of man made climate change....!   Oh the horror, I only have 12 years left....!

Chris

That may well be the ideals of conservatives,

but Trump as hijacked the Republican party.

He's run up unprecedented dept - now averaging about $1 Trillion a year.

He's saddled future generations with a massive debt the interest on which will soon take most of your Gross National Product!

He's burdened Americans with new taxes in the form of ill-conceived tariffs in a trade war with China.

Sorry Chris, no cigar!

Tio Vinny, which party spends money (my money, your money, our money, money that we don't even have or earned yet) like a drunken sailor on his first shore leave....?   Yep, it is not the Republicans now is it.....!  And compare Obama's debt to Trumps.  And I know, you'll say all Obama's debt was George Bush's fault.  Chris

Violent revolution will be the only way anything changes. Those in power will not forfeit that power willingly.

Eventually, the numbers will force the collapse of the current system. There will be troubled times for sure. The dollar will no longer be the world's currency, social programs will get draconian (but IMHO reasonable) cuts. Military budgets will be slashed. And we will have 30 years of paying offdebt before any growth in spending can occur.

There will be massive social disruption as social security and medicare fail right when people need it most. It will be ugly. It will be painful. And hopefully, people will protest without violence...but I doubt that will happen.

Civic unrest will vastly increase as those in power realize it is beyond their ability to CONTROL the outrage with fancy speeches. That leaves the politicians only two choices. 1) exert their power at the end of a gun with police and paramilitary, or reform the system.  Frankly, I don't see them capable of doing either. I think they may TRY to control the populace through force briefly at first, but they will fail. I then think they will pivot to keeping what scraps of power they have as they are being displaced by the angry mob.  Not that I think the mob will fare much better as they will be short on ideas and loaded with anger.

It is going to get ugly... Snowflakes and city dwellers will be hit hardest.... At this point is where I see the nation balkanizing into smaller groups of states as the federal government will be completely toothless.

SO what do we do? Plan for the worst, hope for the best, continue living our lives through the decline of the greatest governmental experiment ever conducted. Pray the socialists and progressives don't get into power as that would only accelerate the decline.

A dark vision? Perhaps, but the numbers and millinea of human behavior leave a pretty clear vision of what the future holds.  As for me, I still enjoy every day, plan for the future (count on the government for zero support in that future) and find joy where I can.  I am flexible, I am a survivor, I will protect my family. We will be fine. I fear others may not be so blessed.

Thoughtful, but fearful, answer Joe.

Perhaps keep your mind open to other possibilities.

I've heard the idea that the next great advancement for mankind will be telepathy.
We are already half-way there with the internet and instant communication with smart phones.
Imagine if we could mentally discern the motives of others.
All the corrupt and greedy thoughts of our leaders would be known.

None of them would ever be re-elected.

Oh, and by the way, you may never get a job again after posting "violent revolution" as the solution.

I do believe "Those in power will not forfeit that power willingly."

Actually, both parties.  (If you want the honest truth!)

I am in no way promoting violent revolution, I am merely offering an observation.  Besides, I am almost at the black socks and sandals age where I no longer have to GAF about fearful employers and the cancel culture costing me a job (those mewling idiots are part of the problem)

It certainly cannot be argued that we are getting more thoughtful, polite, or wise as a society. No, we are getting more factionalized, violent, and ignorant of history, philosophy and role of government. We are losing respect for government, religion, media, family structure, police, academics and rule of law. What outcome do you see? A sudden reversal of such beliefs? While I believe the pendulem swings...I fear there is no easy recovery from such.

BTW, I am not fearful. Not sure how you got that from my post.

Good post, Joe.
No, not calling you fearful, but the prospect that only violence will correct our current dismal condition.

BTW, Warren surging in the polls, especially in Iowa.

Gee, wouldn't it be funny if Trump were beaten by a little girl?!   :cheer:
