Are there any tracks open to public at any of our schools?
Would like to do some track workouts and be able to start doing some running with my kiddo on a track, but when we drove by Vista to check it out it was locked.

FMS and SMS both have tracks that you could use.

Not true-Folsom high is suppose to keep it open as mixed use since Prairie Oaks pays such high mello roos and an extra tax for the schools, the highest in Folsom BTW for folks who pay it.
We called the school and then the principal will open it, but then they have been locking up again.
Americans, don't just come in one color or race.

If you don't mind the football team Vista Varsity starts at 2 and JV at 5 to 7. You can use it during the week.

I don't mind. I share well :lmaosmiley:
I was just a bit surprised that it was locked up. Thank you for the info.

We have called the city and Folsom High 3-4xs last year and gave up. They say they will open it to the public as the sign on the fence says it's mixed-use, but they won't. My tax dollars at work, NOT!

I use the one over on Carter St, off McAdoo. I think it's a Folsom High School field.

That was kind of my take on it as well. I remember when I was in high school I could go to my schools track or even the JC in town and use it anytime. So, I was taken back when we went over and it was all locked up.

I use Sutter Middle a few times a month. Folsom Middle as well. When I've used Vista's or Folsom High's, I've had to climb the fence, which isn't as easy as it used to be.

I don't wanna drive to the track to run:)
ANY city workers on this site, make it happen! They know it's suppose to be open to the public.

I believe it is the school district that locks up the track, not the city.

On a separate note, whatever group held an event at SMS over the weekend, my hat is off to your organization. You left the track cleaner than you found it. Thank you!

I usually try and do my part and pick up trash on my last lap and drop it in the garbage can. My other public service is boosting the egos of anyone else that runs the track because I'm pretty slow.

That was Relay for Life. We walked in the middle of the night and made sure that we picked up anything we found on the track as well as any trash we created.

And my public service is just like yours: boosting egos both on the track and any race :laughcry:

It really would be nice to know who we could contact about unlocking the track when it's closed. I would like to be able to walk to Vista vs driving to others (especially with hot weather coming I know I would prefer to be other there after 7 when football practice is over and they lock it back up).

Aw, man. You Relay for Life people did an awesome job. Unfortunately, it probably won't last because 4th of July revelers next week probably won't be as careful about cleaning up after themselves.

I'd try calling the district. Maintenace and Operations number is 631-0501. I'd start there.

Thanks!! We tried to make sure we cleaned up all our mess.

However, the 'tornado' that blew through mid-day left a huge mess of mangled shade popup frames and flying debris. It was CRAZY!!!
