Visited Savemart (Blue Ravine/E. Bidwell) and was told by the clerk that they will be closing the store on May 30th. Apparently, the owner passed away and the daughter took over the business and is downsizing (and apparently, this is NOT one of their "high" volume stores). Clerk said "Dick's Sporting Goods" will be moving in sometime after they close.

No need to apologize. I hadn't seen nor heard that and I did a search for it and couldn't find it under 'savemart' nor 'dick's sporting goods'.
As for the subject matter, I go there on occasion because I know I can get in and out quickly. Never crowded. Always has a self-serve checkout available. I'm guessing that may be part of the problem.

I also would go there for quick visits, never did a big trip. I just don't like it all that much for some reason.

I think you are confusing centers along Blue Ravine. That thread was about the old Albertson's center that was then empty for a long time, was proposed as a Strikes, and then became a Fresh & Easy, and now will be a Dollar Store.
People were commenting what they had hoped for the site instead of Dollar Store like Strikes, Sportsman's Warehouse, or Nugget Market.

maybe maybe. Im pretty sure I linked it to the savemart-- I keep driving by it and remarking ..when are they going to shut it down? It will be nice to get competition between the meager big 5 and the over priced stuff at the rei.

That's too bad Savemart's closing, Like others i mainly went there out of conveniance, Over the last year Savemart did kind of have a being on borrowed time feel to it. Hopefully the people that work there don't have a hard time finding new jobs.
Same here. Our grocery choices on this end of town keep moving further away. I don't care for Grocery Outlet and I'm worried about Raley's suffering the same fate.

Winco is great for most things but I don't always carry cash or a check with me and it's quite a bit futher. I guess I'll end up at Safeway.

Winco is great for prices and entertainment. If you can shoulder the hour long drudge through the place it's worth the savings. And for as many Folsomites that say they shop there it sure doesn't look like it.
Savemart always seemed a bit disorganized. They sell all kinds of weird stuff like patio furniture and other junk. The staff was a bit odd too.

Sad. I love Savemart. It's a CSJV store. However, I was never impressed with the one in Folsom and soon found elsewhere to go.
Awsome news about Dicks! They are 10x better than Sports Authority. HAPPY!!
