Concert - without a doubt Bruce Springsteen in Oakland 11/30 and Monophonics at Great American Music Hall in June. If you haven't heard of them, check them out! www.monophonics.com

Book - I've read tons of books this year but I can't say any jumped out at me and made me say WOW. I did reread A Discovery of Witches again this year (by Deborah Harkness) and enjoyed it greatly. The history is fascinating. Reading BRUCE (yes, there's a theme going here) by Peter Ames Carlin and for a true fan it's an incredibly interesting look behind the curtain.

I'll add a category - best get-away. Once again, our yearly escape to Bodega Bay helped clear my mind and re-energize me.

Getaway---Washington DC and New York City at Christmas time and family in western Pennsylvania. A White Christmas and hopefully my last of those. That stuff is cold and shoveling it and clearing it off a car and driving in it are not for me. On the other hand Christmas time at Rockefeller Center in NYC was almost magical.

Movie - We Need to Talk About Kevin (Disturbing, not a feel good movie but very powerful)

Concert - The Stone Foxes, The Empty Bottle (Chicago) and Great American Music Hall (San Francisco)

Getaway - Went to Cape Cod for the first time this summer, met my sister from Chicago there. Loved it! It was early enough in the season to be crowd free (early June) but warm enough to enjoy summer. I highly recommend The Escape Inn! Holly and Michael, the owners, are super nice and provide a wonderful experience. I want to go back just to visit them!

Cars Land is awesome! We felt like kids again.

I used to live right off of Highway 92 in Foster City, and spent a lot of time in Half Moon Bay,.

Look forward to going back to cars land when its less crowded then it was opening week.

We usually make several family day trips to the Sam Mateo and Marin coast in the summer to get away from the heat.
