"These will force us to rethink what is truly valuable in our lives". -Vinny

So you'll stop hating on your neighbors and your govt?

...or is expressing that hatred every day "truly valuable" in your life?

So you'll stop hating on your neighbors and your govt?

Ha, ha!

I'm sure you're wise enough, Slow, to recognize that statement as the old

"Have you stopped beating your wife" trap question.

Now, despite the massive and unwarranted hatred against me,
I can sense there is a real curiosity about my motivations.

I can assure you I love my neighbors and my country.

I love them so much that I mourn and protest when I see:
  - foreign governments trying to interfere with our elections

  - corporate interests trying to poison our land for greed

  - the vast majority of workers in our country putting in 50, 60,
even 70-hour work weeks and still "just getting by."

Now, I often tune in to the Fox news channels

(a betrayal of allegiance you will never find among Trumpsters)

and I can see that the conservative mind-set is strongly reinforced

at every turn. It's not bad, but certainly different.
There is also an underlying fear that if any cracks appear in the

core belief system there is a panic that shakes the failthfull to the core.

What you see as hatred, I see as an attempt to present an alternative mindset,

which likewise is not good or bad, just different.

I can see now that we are too polarized to ever hope for a reconciliation of the two sides.
It's like the DNA in an organism polarizing before cell division.
That's why I often harp back to those out-in-left-field theories that we are

witnessing something on a cosmic level, some paradigm shift.

Although it sounds crazy, we are living in incredulous times.

One theory is that we will split into two separate "realities."
One where Trump reigns supreme and all his followers are happy.
Another where corrupt politicians are exposed and ousted

and swarming with Pelosi people.

I dunno . . . I get off into some ivory tower just thinking about it.

I dunno . . .

There seems to be many spiritual communities that see significance in these troubled times.

Events of biblical proportions.

Not everyone is purely materially focused.
Many are going through introspective re-evaluations, thinking about the meaning of their values,

at a time of incredulous change.

(Thinking out loud.)

No one can deny we are living through unprecedented times.

These will force us to rethink what is truly valuable in our lives.

I deny that this is unprecedented times. The REACTION and HYSTERIA to a strong flu are unprecedented, but there are plenty of historical examples of far more severe pandemics. So I guess these are precedented times?

While millions of Americans await congress's latest stimulus bill, the Democrats can't help but put their own political goals ahead of their constituents needs.

WHY WOULD THEY INCLUDE GREEN NEW DEAL ITEMS WHEN THE COUNTRY NEEDS HELP MORE THAN IT HAS AT ANY TIME IN IT'S HISTORY????

BECAUSE LIBERALS ARE SHOWING THAT THEY ARE NEVER GOING TO BE WILLING TO LET A CRISIS GO TO WASTE

I posted a list earlier of the outrageous things Democrats are trying to stuff in the latest relief bill....

AN ACTUAL LIST OF REAL, EASILY VERIFIED ITEMS.... UNLIKE VINNY...

.... and none of the items listed have anything to do with providing direct relief to the American people.

Required early voting? Union bargaining? Cancellation of postal debt? Climate change? Really?! Are you kidding?

Senate Minority Schumer says on the floor of the Senate that their thoughts are with us. Their thoughts are not with us nor are the Democrat leaders, as people, with us. If they were they wouldnt be thinking about the other things we argue about during this time.

The Democrats will not pass bills incrementally, as the Republicans have done. Instead, they hold bills hostage in order to get everything they want beyond the immediate issue of the Wuhan coronavirus. They wont even let the people get their checks or unemployment insurance extended. Instead, they hold us hostage too.

This is not opinion, these are FACTS

Not to worry; your boy's got it covered!

Trump on House Dems' coronavirus relief bill:
'No way I’m signing that deal' with 'Green New Deal stuff'

https://www.foxnews....-green-new-deal

“I came in, I told Mike [Pence], I told a lot of people, 'There is no way I am signing that deal," the president added.

Tell us VINNY... please tell us.

Why does an urgent bill for virus relief need ANYTHING to pay for the Green Deal.

Now is your chance.... convince us. Produce a single valid point.

Just one....

Because the Dems want to balance the package to help individuals, not just corporations.

Tonight Congress struck a deal. We should all be united in this.

There's enough pain and enough agreement to go 'round.

Here's an olive branch for you, Slow. Let's be civil.

Vinny, the DEMS wrote the package in the House with marginal Rep input (all spending bills must originate in the House).  The Senate made very few changes AND Schumer was praising the bipartisanship 24 hours before Pelosi blew the whole thing up with her ridiculous fantasy wish list.  I am not united in applauding a stimulous equal to 2/3 our annual tax revenue to get us through a month or so. How does that math work?  I am for suspending mortgage payments, student loan payments and rent relief.  I am NOT for adding massive debt to our already burdened system.  At some point, the debt comes due, and then the whole system crashes down. What services can you have when SS and medicare are already broke and you start paying 1.2 trillion dollars a year in interest on a 3 trillion dollar income. Suddenly, people stop buying bonds and no one will lend the US the extra trillion plus annually. What are we to do? Print money and devalue the dollar against every other world currency. You think the inflation in the 80s was bad?  Enjoy the ride...it's almost over...maybe I'll take my "bailout" money and buy some gold mining mutual funds...

I hear you, A.J., but you worry too much.

You can never accurately predict the future.

There may well be a positive outcome.

Besides: Thoughts are things (Edgar Cayce). Mind is the creator.
By dwelling on the negative it is actually like praying for it. That tends to make it come true.

Better to envision a bright future.

Maybe with this, the haters can back off for just a moment....?

WASHINGTON - Businesses controlled by President Donald Trump and his children would be prohibited from receiving loans or investments from Treasury Department programs included in a $2 trillion stimulus plan agreed to early Wednesday by White House and Senate leaders in response to the coronavirus crisis.

Yes, that is one of the restrictions demanded by the Democrats. The original proposal would have let Mnuchin disperse

$500 billion without oversight or controls.

The revised version of the bill also prohibits CEO compensation, executive bonuses, and stock buy-backs.

These are rules that prevent corruption and abuse of taxpayer funds.

To support such oversight is good for all Americans.
No hatred involved at all, but rather transparency and responsibility.
