I would've mowed it immediately.  Well done Steve and Brandon... Pay it forward

Just remembered a third story.    Back to the old Sacramento house again and a neighbor across the street was ill in the hospital.   My wife mowed their long lawn to help them out.   The welfare daughter showed up while my wife was mowing the lawn.  The daughter made a nasty comment to her.

There are always other factors to consider.

There has to be someone else out there that had their generosity turn awkward or go bad.

You know, when my littlest son was brand new and in the hospital for a month, I didn't mow either. I was pumping milk every 2 hours and visiting my own kid in the hospital. Got a visit from the police saying they had gotten complaints about my lawn. COMPLAINTS?!? So, if you see a lawn in distress, walk up that walk, knock on that door, and ask if everything is okay. If they say they're just lazy, laugh and move on. But chances are....

The good news is that now it's my turn to be in the hospital and this time my neighbors called me very sweetly to ask how I was when they saw the lawn. My faith in humanity is thus restored.

Hey Lacey! I hope you're ok. Get better soon. Is there anything I can do for you?

Hey Steve :) I am okay thank you! We hired a company to come mow :D I have had pain these last three months. The docs have been working hard to get to the bottom of it. So, at least it's not cancer. My only reason to bring it up is to encourage folks to just knock on that door instead of complaining... you never know what is going on!

Speaking of unkempt yards, there is a rental with at least four vehicles owned by young men who like to park on the lawn on occasion. The yard and only tree in the front yard is completely dead and the weeds are 18 inches tall. The lawn service for our place says their weeds are blowing over to our lawn. These guys have actually walked across eat to yell at our lawn service when they are mowing and blowing at 4 PM in the afternoon, beer in hand. They were objecting to the noise of the lawn Mowers and blowers. Is there anyway to see about taking care of their own lawn.?

That's awesome.  Thanks to Brandon!

We were raised to help elderly people.  I would have mowed her lawn as soon as I saw it getting a little too long. At our house if we (term used loosely) mow first, we include the neighbor's front yard.  If he gets to it first, he tosses in ours for good measure.

I've mowed my neighbors lawns at both my old and new house and was told to stop because in one instance the son was being paid to mow the lawn and when I did it he was getting paid for doing nothing (at least in the front). I really think the bottom line is because I'm a girl. My mowing ALWAYS looked better. I'd have people stop and ask who I used for my lawn service and when I said that I did it they were very surprised.
