It's like a reverse mortgage.
First, it seems like you got money to spare, then they repossess your house.

Like, what will happen when the $ Trillion shortfall hits the US Treasury?

Let's look at Disney's financial statement for 2017.

Taxes paid:                                     $4,442,000,000  ($4.4 billion)

Taxes they pay with new tax law: $2,521,000,000  ($2.5 billion)

Taxes saved:                                  $1,900,000,000   (1.9 billion)

Employees get ($1k x 125,000)     -   $125,000,000     ( $125 million)  6.6% of the bonus

Execs and top 1% get                    $ 1,775,000,000     (~$1.8 billion)  93.4% of the bonus           :lmaosmiley:

I could do that calculation for every company that receives a tax break,

but the experts in Washington have already don the math.

Result.  The top 1% receives 86% of all the tax savings from that bill.        :CRAZYLOCO:

And then, the taxpayers will have to make up the lost federal revenue.

And STILL, some idiots see this as a good deal for the little guy.     :(    :joker:

You can't make this stuff up folks!    :loco:

Tio Vinny......   Please go live in Venezuela or Cuba...!   They think just like you...!  And all that tax savings, maybe they buy capital equipment and hire more workers...?   Ever occur to you...?   And yes, shareholders will do well.  They deserve to do so, just like you and me and our 401K's...!   I guarantee you are invested in every company that you hate.  Chris

Top execs get 1.8 billion? Nope. Wrong again!

Disney has over 1.5 billion shares outstanding  http://www.nasdaq.co...is/stock-report

Much of that "1% " money will actually go tho the shareholders. You know, pension funds, private investors, and yes, top execs with options.  Once again, you are blinded by ideology, and don't understand economics at all.

I don't understand the anger over some low wage workers getting a thousand dollar bonus, because they didn't get what top executives get. Doesn't it count that the executives have much higher education, work experience and many, many more years on the job? Or do some think things should be spread around evenly, despite the years of education and many years at the job????  If that's the case. why bother doing anything more than hold a low paying job?

And as for the tax payers picking up the tab for lost federal funds, I'd suggest the waste and poor management by our government be looked into.  Billions of dollars are wasted and spent unwisely  by our government every year! Things that were never meant to be paid for by the American tax payer. Just look at some of the things we are all paying for;

Chris, I understand what you are saying, but those dictators hardly do without their fancy liquor, clothes, houses cars or anything else they want.  The joke is, everybody at the top in those countries thinks socialism is great and communism is even greater! People from Cuba don't risk their lives trying to get to the USA in flimsy boats because they love where they live. What some on this board want is the most idealistic of worlds, where effort to produce anything for one's self is never expected and other people work because they like to and to give their earnings away gladly. (Service to the community and doing good...) Then the takers can keep taking and telling everybody that they are, in fact worthy, sitting on their butts and doing nothing. But we know that losers do little but whine and successful people are too busy working to go that route.

In the last thirty or so years much has been done to help the poor and those on the streets, but the problems are much greater. The governor of Sacramento is asking that business owners chip in 20 million to make tiny houses for the homeless. It will be interesting to see what the very kind governor of Sacramento will say when his efforts to house the homeless fail....oh wait, he'll be gone by then. But seriously, asking business owners to pay out millions for the homeless to live in little houses?  What about food, clothing and the cost of utilities? Sounds like some have never heard of a Pandora's Box.  Or have never had a loser brother-in-law come and stay until they get on their feet!  When he finally leaves, it's to go to another relatives house who is more understanding.....until they too, see what a loser he is. He'll tell his hard luck story to anyone who might give him a bed for the night, but never look for a job because that's not in his game plan.

Some need to wake up.  Being homeless is now a new life style and we may as well face the fact that only tough law enforcement will end the trend. Wrong choices have consequences....and nobody owes anybody a living.

Rose, I think that we have a lot in common......   Over the years I went from compassion for the homeless to disdain.   Tried to help them, gave them my lunches, gave them my quarters all along market street every time they asked...   Then I stopped, I realized they just spent it on booze, drugs, and cigarettes.  Made me step over poop and I smelled cigarettes, dope, piss, and body odor every block I walked.   I can't tell you how many times I almost dropped a homeless turd for stepping in front of me, blocking my path, and demanding money.   You see, I grew up in SF as a kid...   The 60's were great, clean, organized, cops with batons and used them when appropriate.  The 70's it started going down hill, 80's got real bad, men in the bushes having sex out in the open on Sutter Street, Polk Street, off of Van Ness....  Kinda weird when you are a 16 year old boy in the city, getting cat called, propositioned by 3 men every block, offered drugs, just trying to get up the block to look for comics or go to a surplus store.......  Get a sandwich at the deli....

SF is now off limits, I don't go there anymore, the city of my birth.  They have gone full left tard, progressive, anti capitalist, anti "white", anti money, anti USA, anti conservative in any form, anti Trump, anti religion...  It's their way or the highway...   Soon the money will run out and they will realize their population consists of leftists who don't work and are on the government dole, illegal aliens from Mexico who work in their restaurants, work very hard, clean their houses, and mow their lawns, and the homeless.   Not a good economic model.  I can't wait until the hammer drops, and drops hard on them.   Of course their answer will be to tax corporations in the city more....   And they will leave...   Chris

Rose,  IMO, these "tax reduction" bonuses are a mistake and send the wrong message.  A bonus is a reward when an employee does extraordinary work, goes the extra mile, exceeds the company's expectations.  Handing out a bonus to every employee, regardless of their track record at work is a little like giving everyone on the losing little league team a trophy.  Wrong message.  And keep in mind, the tax breaks for corporations extend into perpetuity, while the bonus is a one time event.  The companies aren't being that generous.
