What does Obama have to do with this?  I never said anything about taking away anyones guns.  I never suggested that my ideas would stop the Chicago thugs. Stop jumping to conclusions.  I simply suggested a way to possibly limit mentally ill people from getting weapons to commit mass murder.  Your ideology jumped you to the conclusion that I want to take your guns which again demonstrates the never ending debate on gun control.  Even sensible laws that still guarantee the right of law abiding citizens to own as many weapons as they want are received as attacks on your rights to own guns and the Chicago thug mass murderers are lurking outside all our front doors.

Joe - thanks for reading my post.  I understand and appreciate your position and how you got there.  There has to be some middle ground and something we can do to keep guns out of bat&hit crazy people's hands.

That sounds great caligirlz.  Learn how to use your weapon so you are ready to defend yourself if you need it.  If it gives you peace of mind then great.

I work in El Dorado county and have talked to Sheriff D'Agostino and he told me he would issue a CCW permit to ANYONE that feels threatened.  Not sure what the Sac county process is but my understanding is it's a pretty easy process and a law abiding citizen can get one pretty easily.  Thank you for considering getting the extra skills to know how to be proficient with it.  You might be my next door neighbor so I want you to know how to use it.

Here's an article I found about getting a CCW in Sacramento County.

Thanks for the info apeman.

Since I live in Folsom, the Sacramento County rules would apply to me. Although, I am taking the class in El Dorado County. I don't know if a CCW is really necessary, but I want to be educated & trained for all options.

Here's the Sac County guidelines: http://www.sacsherif...ccw_process.pdf

I have heard the Sacramento County Sheriff say that with the lack of officers on the streets. He can't protect the law abiding citizen's of this county. He is all for  CCWs  if one qualifies and take the classes. It cost a few hundred bucks.

As one who has seen  well over a hundred gun shot wounds and many deaths in the last 22 years, very few are the "innocent" person you hear in the media. If you dig a little there's offend  more to the story. I not saying innocent people are not killed or shot its just not as offend as the media portrays.  Poverty, drugs and gangs play a huge part. Look at a map of any large inner city. Not many shooting in the Oakland hills or the Fab 40s in Sac. I can only recall 1 stranger on stranger shooting or death in the Folsom EDH area and that was the robbery and murder at 36 handles. too many bad people have way to many guns and that's never going to change!

That is true. About 20% of people are killed by a stranger, while the other 80% were at least aquainted with their killer. About a quarter of the time the killer was a family member. (these stats vary by year)

Another tidbit about the scary assault rifle. They are almost never used in crimes. You are far more likely to be murdered by fists, clubs or knives than long rifles (which includes ALL types of rifles).

Common sense does not exist in the brain of Liberals and Progressives. It has eluded them for their entire lives.

All school administrators are liberal and progressive?

Too bad some of those Oregon students didn't take charge and subdue/kill the gunman before the gunman killed them.

"All school administrators are liberal and progressive?"

Not all, but the vast majority. Only 11-15% identify as conservative. And only  0.4% identify as far right, vs 12.4% that identify as far left. Given that the general populsce has 33% that self identify as conservative and only 18% that self identify as liberal, yeah, there is a huge bias toward liberal, progressive ideology.

How did I *blame* them? I'll try to bring this down a notch so you can understand it.
You can be like those 3 guys that subdued the train gunman in Europe and end the threat, or you can stand there like a bunch of sheep waiting to be gunned-down/executed/killed.
I think I know which route you would take...and it's pretty weak.

Steve - Is this the way you want this forum to run?  If so, I'm out.  These conversations keep sinking to the lowest level, and it is NOT contained to the politics section.

I really wanted an online version of Folsom - a place to find out what is going on, keep up with local news...that sorta thing.  Getting a daily dose of who is right and who is left is not why I leave this site open permanently in a tab.

I'm exhausted with these behaviors.
