I visited them yesterday. Great coffee. Unique sandwich choices, and gelato. Nice atomosphere.

They have a 'rooster regulars' card, which gets you 1 free for every 9 purchased. They keep the card on file, so you don't have to worry about loosing or forgetting it.

I met Pia. I think she's the owner. Nice management = nice staff.

Check them out.

we tried them one Sunday morning and their pastry selection was quite sparce. I know it's a coffee shop, not a pastry shop... but half of the attraction of such a place is finding a place to grab a muffin and read the paper. I hope next time they will be well stocked, I want the place to do well. smile.gif

We went in there with another couple of had a nice time over a couple of glasses of wine. It's a cool little spot.

They serve wine? Wow.

We've been twice. Once was great and once was pretty terrible. We'll try them again to see which wins out.

John, that's one thing I did notice, not too many pastries left, but I was there at 1030a, so I thought they were sold out.

Oceangirl, they're on Sutter, near the Sutter Grill, Gray's and Hop Sings.

Tony, wine sounds like a great idea!

Stopped in this weekend for the first time. WOW great sandwiches! Best sandwich I've had in a long time. Every bite was delicious. The family next to us seemed to be really enjoying their soup as well. The service was very slow, but it was very busy and it's a small little place, so I didn't mind at all. Perfectly understandable. So, don't just think of this as a coffee, pastry, gelato cafe, but a full fledged lunch place as well. I understand they are open until 7pm, but that may just be weekends, I'm not sure.

On Saturday morning they had about a dozen of each... cookies, muffins and scones, I think by Sunday they were mostly gone. I enjoy the Roosters coffee better than Starbucks. If only they would add some donuts and a few more pastries it would be perfect. I like the "bad for you" lowbrow donuts the best. I'm upset that Starbucks did away with the tasty pastries, and now stocks only pastries that are "healthier". sad.gif

I don't know what Starbucks you have been going to but the inner fatty in me has been getting an old fashioned chocolate cake glazed donut at Starbucks everyday for about a month now at the drive thru on greenback. Good thing I am breastfeeding since it burns all those extra calories tongue.gif

Starbucks has some really good breakfast sandwiches too, but the drive thru location doesn't carry them, it takes too long to heat them, so it makes too long of a wait.

I tried the Rooster for Gelato. It was pretty good, but really expensive!!! I paid over 5 bucks for a large. I'm kinda spolid though, I grew up on Gelato from North Beach in SF.

They add another nice lunching spot for the street, that is for sure. A different atmosphere, so that's nice. I think Seasons has a much better lunch selection, but Rooster is just getting started. They're trying really hard and I think they are a very nice addition to old town. People do like to eat there. Authenticity over big box wins every time.

I'm with you on this one, 4th. And I echo others' wishes for a larger pastry/muffin selection.

It's open until 9 pm Wed -Sat (or Thurs-Sat, I can't remember which).

Because it's open later, it's also a great place for small evening meetings. In an effort to support such unique Sutter St. merchants, we've moved our monthly Folsom Area Bicycle Advocates (FABA) meetings to the Rooster (third Thursday of the month at 7:00 PM, if anyone's intetrested). The location, friendly service, being open uintil 9 and serving good food, great desserts and alchohol were all attractions.

I'm very impressed with the quality of the product and the service. The tables, however, are right on top of one another. For certain kinds of meetings/conversations, another venue would be more appropriate.
